Thanks for getting back to me. First, my computer screen froze (I suspect some interference of a hacker or something).

Anyway, I turned off my computer, waited several minutes, and turned it back on, again. A message came on the screen said I wasn't "signed in." Then, another smaller window came up saying I could "sign in" by clicking on a blue button. But, that didn't work after three tries, so I clicked on the "closed" button. That allowed me very limited access to the internet. A "black" label announcement said that I wasn't signed in - and that my files were inaccessible to me.

It looks like I need a technician, but I presently have no car and I don't know of any technicians who do "House Calls."

I'm also wary of contacting an online technician. One time a year or so ago, I looked up a phone number for Microsoft - and the guy I spoke with had an "Indian" accent. He sort of helped me for a stiff fee. In hindsight, I realized he couldn't possibly have worked for Microsoft - even though he assured me that he did...

Can you or someone on your staff possibly help me. I trust Mozilla Firefox and I'm prepared to pay a reasonable fee.

This only happens when clicking a link from an email in Thunderbird most of the time it is a news platform. I have to copy the link and open a new tab in Firefox to have it work.

I got help with this from your group some weeks ago, but I had to reinstall my Ubuntu OS (linux v.20.04.4 -- using firefox) recently and can't recall the answer.

When I view a WikiSpecies list of file names (e. g., see https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Pentatominae), the instances which have been installed but never used should be in a different (reddish) color. I am attaching an image of a page containing a file named "Abadia" (first one on the left, just under "A") which is unused. I also am attaching an empty "Creating Abadia" which is the result of clicking on "Abadia".

Please tell me how to change the image of an unused, empty file. I recall that there were two different choices SOMEWHERE in the system, "Always" and "Never" I think: One of them forces a system-level color pattern which includes reddish unused items; the other allows the used to program arbitrary displays such as the above (typical example from the dconf editor is 'bg_color: #f0f1f2; selected_bg_color: #023C88', but this editor does not change the appearance of a file instance.

For the past few days, Firefox has been freezing up. By playing around with it, I've found that it's still functioning, but it ceases to update visually. I'm not having the same issues with any other program on my PC, I don't see the icon to update Firefox, and I've restarted my PC a few times along the way.

When this happens, it's not just website contents that freeze, but Firefox's UI as well. Hovering a tab doesn't highlight it. Clicking the hamburger doesn't appear to open the menu. Etc...

If I have a video playing when this happens, I will continue to hear it, but the frame the video is on stays in place.

If I click on another open tab, it will still show me the tab it visually froze on, but if I end Firefox with Windows Task Manager & reopen it, the session saves the tab switch, so it's still taking mouse inputs. I've been able to do similar with keyboard inputs by clicking on the address bar and entering a new URL. I don't see anything as I type it, but after using Task Manager to close and reopen Firefox, the site I entered is there.

I can switch between open Firefox windows when this happens without issue, even on the same monitor, and if I pull up something else in front of Firefox and then switch to Firefox it will still display what was last visible in that Firefox window while the bug is occurring.

I have tried disabling add-ons, and actually found that disabling some of them made it happen *more* frequently, not less. Privacy Badger, Auto Tab Discard, & Ad Nauseum specifically. Switching from Ad Nauseum to AdBlock Plus or uBlock Origin neither increases nor decreases the frequency. My other add-ons, like Duplicate Tabs Closer, haven't had any effects on frequency that I can see. With all of my Add-ons disabled, Task Manager shows double the number of Firefox processes.

I tried to clear my history, but I can only select my last 1 hour of history, as clicking on the dropdown box to select another duration will cause the problem to occur & I can't see the other options in the box to select a longer option. The dropdown to select a topic for this question has the same issue.

These are some actions that risk causing the bug to start, but aren't 100% reproducible, and the list is not exhaustive:

• Trying to click & drag to pull a tab into becoming its own window or to move the tab into another window. (Firefox does not save this movement if it causes the bug, so closing and reopening it will keep the tab in the window it was already in.) This seems to work fine for some sites, but specifically tends to break if it's a YouTube tab.
• Mid-clicking to open a link in a new tab, if done on several links in a row
• Clicking on a UI element, like the hamburger button
• Right clicking on an image and selecting "copy"
• Right clicking within Firefox
• Opening Firefox

I have not seen the bug occur at any time that I was not actively providing some input to the Firefox program.

Got online this morning, and Firefox "upgraded" to a newer version. Now, I have no home page, no bookmarks, no history, etc. This happened several "updates ago, a few years ago, if memory serves. How do I get all those back? Last time, they apparently sent out a "fix". Thanks,

I have a desktop and laptop both with FF installed and synced and they ALWAYS load identical. Yesterday I set up my my new desktop in my office and I installed FF and when I logged onto my account my FF stayed the default color. This never happened before, and as I turned and looked at my old desktop I saw that it too now had the wrong theme. So I went into my kitchen were I have my laptop set up (it just upgraded itself to win 11 and I am using it as a training tool) the FF on it was no longer appearing correctly.

I have since spent 30 some hours uninstalling/reinstalling FF/ deleting my profile, remaking my profile, re-deleting my profile and making another new profile using a different email and when I install FF on ANY OTHER pc it will not load correctly, especially themes and add ons.

What the hell is causing this and how do I fix it??

On every PC I used my Revo Uninstaller Pro to uninstall FF including file remnants and then meticulously scrubbed repeatedly each PC for any leftover registry and file remnants, and then I used my file eraser program to wipe all the file slack.

If this is going to be an issue why have FF ? I spend enough time now keeping Edge disabled and dont want my fav primary browser to become a "High Maintenance" browser having to spend time EVERY TIME I TURN ON MY PC fixing this, repeatedly. Its like having to add water to your cooling system every time you start up your car before you can use it.

Any help would be enormously appreciated.

The trouble shooting information below is for the first install tonight after getting home and making the newest profile and it is seemingly staying correct, the next install on my laptop is incorrect, it has one deleted theme installed yet is "using" the default theme and the correct theme I picked is not even showing.

Hi I went to my email provider earlier on and Firefox froze saying that a copy was running and to close - which I did. But Firefox will not access any website: just the normal waiting message.

I did a hard reboot. No joy. I tried a download. No joy. I am using Brave at present to access you. Everyhting else, email etc is working fine.

Any advice please.

Hi, I suddenly have a thick white border around three sides of browser that I can't rid of. I did a search here and found what looked like a solution but there is no "Customize" button in FF any longer, so not sure how to fix this.

It is not running in compatibility mode either.

I can't open a particular site i watch in private. I refreshed browser; I gave permissions off and then on or enhanced tracking off then on and neither nor changed anything. The website help desk that i tried opening verified password asked which browser and still it wouldn't open when putting correct information password and user name in. Any suggestions? I didn't do anything different and thought it was the website but i'm member and nothing's changed on their end.

No websites will load at all. The address looks fine but the loading ends up timing out just like when the address isn't correct or the site is having issues. I believe this started after the last update, I don't remember if it was a Firefox or windows update. I've tried the suggested troubleshooting tips, and uninstalled re-installed firefox twice. All I achieved was to lose my dark theme and previous open tabs.

In settings, Start-up, I have the box checked for: "open previous windows and tabs" but it doesn't work. In order to do my work I need the 23 tabs I currently have open to show up again after a reboot of the browser or computer. What gives? How long will it take to get this corrected? I've tried everything and read all the instructions but none work.

Mac OS 11.2.3 Tried every tip in the troubleshooting guide. Firefox still does not work. Downloaded and installed version 96 but "Update History" only shows up to 95. Thanks for any help.

Update to version 96 64-bit just completed. Many websites now experiencing Secure Connection Failed PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR. Did Help -> More Troubleshooting Information -> Refresh Firefox to go back to all defaults. Open Firefox again, add Menu Bar. Open what used to be home screen tabs, ok at first, but within minutes start experiencing Secure Connection Failed in several websites. Seems to come and go, sometimes a Reload current page restores normal website, sometimes not. Close Firefox, open again, restore previous session tabs, only a matter to time before one or more start getting Secure Connection Failed errors. No extensions, no themes. Browser is now so unreliable as to be unusable. Please assist.
