Hello, I have my Firefox bookmarks separated by folders according to the theme. Every time I use the 'search bookmarks' option, firefox shows me all the hypotheses based on my search but hides the folders and doesn’t show me in which folder the bookmark I looked for is located. This way, I always have to do a search because I still don't know what folder it is in unless I remember it again or browse through all the folders until I find it. Is there any way to do this? Thank you.
Are my bookmarks kept in the cloud so I can retrieve them after a restore?

firefox has deleted most of about 150 bookmarks, and one of the three bookmark folders. I check the troubleshooting site and it said that the bookmarks could be recovered from a backup using the RESTORE function, but this has not worked. Any advice on how I can recover the bookmarks? I used Firefox 87.0 and Windows 7 on a desktop.

Good afternoon support,
My bookmarks are being maliciously duplicated in some instances upwards of x7 times per bookmark.
This has skyrocketed the total number of bookmarks saved in excess of 100K+ with the current html file size 67,432kb up from 13,000kb on average which was still over-arched but a work in progress.
Steps Ive taken to date thinking it might resolve this nuisance to no avail include:
- Created a new firefox account - uploaded the previous html file - used various:
- computers (hp, acer, asus, lenovo)
- versions of firefox as well as freshed firefox
- windows & linux
- alternative web browsers due to frustration ie. chrome, chromium, opera,
brave (c'mon at least im honest :) but am not a fan of their product in
comparison to firefox so I am determined to make firefox work in my favour
- Manually edit, and delete the duplicates on a daily basis but lone behold they return with a vengance. The system usually freezes for a few seconds or minutes, but just last night it was instant with no lag then bsod.
I'm beyond frustrated and totally annoyed with all the wasted time and effort.
Anyguidance is much appreciated.

I have Googled up advice on searching my bookmarks collection. I seem to get into obsolete advice -- not all Google finds have dates on them. And it is unusual to find a heading that gives a date or the relevant FireFox release number.
It's difficult to summon faith that reading a Googled-up item will get you anywhere with FF 87.0.
I hit the star yesterday on a page about urging R to read in .xls files. It SEEMS to me that the bookmarks USED TO BE added in pushdown order. But my xls bookmark was not showing near the top of what I BELIEVE is the list of all my starred pages. "xls" doesn't seem to work as a search term. But I am unsure whether I have correctly invoked any kind of search: no sort of result appeared.
A more general observation: the advice I have see this afternoon seems BURDENED by a wealth of assumed knowledge and usage. One symptom of this is the abundance of references to unlabeled "bars".
I just accidentally deleted a file in Firefox Bookmarks. How do i get it back please?

Hi,
searching for bookmarks (with sidebar) is no problem. There are several cases where I look, if something or similar had been bookmarked already. With this I want to avoid doubling/tripling/'moreling' bookmarks. But if I find something already bookmarked, I do not know in my about 1000 bookmarks where the bookmark is located. I tried to show properties of the found bookmark but it does not tell where it is placed. So I would have to look manually about 100 folders to find where the bookmark is located.
The most easy solution I think, would be indicating the place of the bookmark when showing settings of bookmark. On hovering over the found bookmark in a third line of popup could be told the location of this bookmark and would be visually more pleasant I think.
Else I have to put the bookmark doubled in a more visible location and delete the bookmark found by search. This workaround works but is not intuitive and bothersome (and costs much more time).
As this solution would be easy to implement, I hope, this can be implemented 'soon'. I think, this would help many others, too. (At least I heard from several others in my environment, that they miss such a thing.)

Hi all, Once and a while, suddenly, bookmarks can´t be saved any longer. So I restart Firefox and all is ok again. This happens perhaps twice a month. - Existing Bookmarks can be opened, but can´t be moved in the structure. - This issue exists since many Firefox versions. - The *.sqlite files are not write protected. - All Add Ons are switched off.
I have to close for each new start of Firefox all windows and so I am loosing the workflow :-(. Does anybody know about this issue? Many thanks Achim

I lost some of my bookmarks (I have 19000) when my cat stepped on my keyboard. No problem i make a daily back-up of my bookmarks since they are so precious for me (Thousand of BM are related too my work) It's not the first time I restore and I never encountered any probleme before. This morning, I did the usual but FF crashed and I had to restart my computer a few time. At one point, and I have no clue why, it restored a part of the BM but not the pesonal bar which is the most important since that's where I keep my BM for my research work.
Is the file too big now (It's about 5 Mo) if so why am-i not advise by FF when I save? Otherwise what could be the source of my problem??

When i click on the google maps icon (google uk home page>dots in top right hand conrner>google maps icon)or type google maps into the search field then click on the google maps link I end up on the Sheffield Hallam University log in page (a bookmark from a while ago). This has started happening in the last few weeks.
If I use Edge then everything happens as expected and google maps opens.
I have tried refreshing firefox and disabling add-ons, neither works.
Using Windows 10 home V20H2, upto date firefox.
