Ok, I can't reinstall Firefox because I have data, links and other that I no longer have access to link website links.
What is the next solution please as Firefox is my default and main browser.... or is it time to move away from firefox.?
I tried to import date and others however it was not an easy task to do, and I have to System Restore to once again get the Error that stops Firefox, is there a way of undoing the update that firefox installed ?

I've seen that there was a similar issue back in October with a previous version. Tried to follow instructions and reinstaled firefox from mozilla. But the problem is still there. Restarted after reinstalling and still getting the same error message. ((( Please help )))

I have been running version 147.0.2 on Windows 10 Pro. I manually downloaded the version 147.0.3 updater and ran it without any apparent problem. However, when doing the required restart, the update process did not complete. Multiple restarts and cold boots have not remedied this. When I start Firefox using my desktop icon, version 147.0.2 is started.
My "Programs and Features" window shows both versions are installed. When trying to uninstall either version, in either order, I receive a message saying that the system should be restarted to complete the update process. As stated, this does not work.
Following a restart, the Performance Monitor does not show any recognizable "ghost" processes that would need to be stopped.
Inspection of the System event log showed the following Warning:
* Name resolution for the name push.services.mozilla.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
There may be other warnings / errors that are pertinent to this situation, but that was the only one that mentioned "mozilla" or "firefox" by name.

When I open FF I get the message "Update available. FF couldn't update automatically. Download the new version - you won't lose saved information or customizations. < download > < dismiss >." When I click "help > about", the message box says I'm on the latest version of FF for my Windows 7 computer, 115.32.0esr (32-bit). I understand I need a new computer and that Mozilla isn't providing more updates to those of us left behind. However, I don't recall ever getting messages telling me to download a version when there wasn't an update that I could actually install on my current hardware and OS. Am I missing something by not doing the download to which reference is being made in the cited recurrent message? Can I expect to get this non-actionable "Update available" message from now on? Good day!!! I updated my browser today, and after that, everything I had in it was reset, from my account, open tabs (there were over 300 of them), passwords, themes, and everything else. If you don't know how to properly test your updates, then don't update your browser at all. Thanks to you, I lost a lot of information I needed. Thank you!!!!! I'm uninstalling your crappy software and switching to Edge or Chrome.

Good Morning! :)
I have a note book HP, which windows operating system was erased back in the past, I happily use mozilla. This device I use it exclusively as a monitor to watch TV.
I got the notification of the Mozilla update, I have downloaded many times in the laptop: firefox-136.0.1-tar.xz However does not run or execute the file and update the system and laptop. I am able to open the file, but that is all.
Please let me know what I am doing wrong to fix it.
Thank you very much for your attention

If you select No to the UAC prompt when updating Firefox via Installer, it will install Firefox to "AppData\Local\Mozilla Firefox" without telling you, instead of overwriting the copy in Program Files or erroring out. Additionally it will create a new Profile and set this new Profile as the Default Profile without telling you. Lastly, it'll remove an existing Pinned shortcut on the Taskbar.
So you've now got 2 copies of Firefox installed, one of which you're not told anything about and an additional Firefox Profile with no indication that this happened nor any instructions on how to undo this nor how to change the default Profile.

So I know this question has been asked and answered in various scenarios but so far I've not found one matching mine.
Personal PC. I'm on V 131.0.2 since a reinstall last year but only now realised no updates have been done since because of this msg. I've worked through the various fixes others used re policies, but I can't locate any policy files in the various locations suggested; registry editor (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox key (don't have it) & others, about:config (nothing showing on a search), Program Files/Policies (don't have it), C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Distribution folder (don't have it). So I could not find the offending poicy DisableAppUpdate anywhere in locations offered by other posters etc.
Rather than taking forever to pin down the culprit, can I not just manually update to the latest version or will that delete all my settings/extensions etc?? Given how often it's crashing I'm almost tempted down that road except that I like to have my History intact as I often want to find a site I've not bookmarked.
Thanks.
just an fyi, & youse probably have thousands/more saying the same: the "about" page leads to the build info for FF 54....nuff said.
