I have a content filter to filter out inappropriate material. Included in the filter are filters for adult content on wikipedia, youtube,and google podcasts. however, all those sites are fully allowed on Firefox, as opposed to on Safari and google chrome where the filter is working properly

I have to save a lot of PDF documentation in Firefox browser. When I use a software and I click a button the print preview window appears, after that I save the documentation in pdf. Is there any way to automated it?

I use these configs (about:config and about:preferences):

Always ask you where to save files -> not checked Content-type PDF -> Save file in the Applications section At now this config is does not work. I want to click the button, and it will download into the correct folder.

Saved themes in Firefox color not visible in add-ons manager. Does not fix itself in safe mode. One of the saved themes is a default preset I liked, the other is a preset I made myself, using all options except advanced colors.

I have Firefox as my default browser instead of Microsoft Edge on my HP laptop. I've tried everything under the sun to make Google my default search engine over Microsoft Bing, and no matter what it won't stop rerouting me to Bing. I can go to www.google.com and type directly in the search bar and it STILL reroutes me to Bing, even when my settings list Google as my default search engine of the search bar. Can I block Bing as a website altogether? HP support only offered to connect me with a specialized team that costs money. Please help.

How can I completely remove the tab bar and regain 3/4 of an inch of screen space. It would be nice if Mozilla would just have a on/off button for it. I've tried creating a folder called Chrome within my Firefox Profile folder. I then created a text file within that folder and named it userChrome.css. I put this string in the text file #tabbrowser-tabs { visibility: collapse !important; } This did not work, does anyone know the best method for getting rid of the annoying tab bar?

firefox is using so much memory that it is causing lag and loading problems.

i know that the root of my problem is that i have an unholy amount of tabs open all the times but if i go into the process manager for firefox i can see that the memory problem is actually usually only 1 or 2 tabs that are using over 1GB of memory. this has only been a problem in the last few weeks so i am not sure if something has changed on the firefox side of things.

I looked into tab unloading and this seems like it would solve my problems. however the unloading process only happens automatically when the total amount of memory that firefox is using approaches the maximum amount of memory you system has available. with 32GB of ram and firefox reaching not even 16GB when completely stretched the automatic process will likely never hapen. yet firefox is still using enough memory that it is causing itself problems.

i dont really want to have to unload my tabs all the time to keep firefox's memory in check. is there anyway to lower the amount of memory that causes firefox to automatically unload tabs? i have seen extensions that say they will sleep tabs that are not being used. however they all seem to just sleep tabs that are not currently in use rather than sleeping tabs that have not been used that day.

i feel like the tab uploader is such a good feature in firefox that i would love to be able to use it to solve my problems. however i am not sure how to make this happen in the laziest way possible.

Roboform extension not working at all since the 123.0 Firefox Release February 20, 2024 update. It works fine on all of my other browsers. Please fix this. I have already tried to reinstall it. It acts if it wants to work and then it disappears.

I'm trying to remove the bar at the top of firefox browser with tabs in them. I read another article (https://support.mozilla.org/es/questions/1417387#answer-1588947) under spain link, i think, and the solution said to write "TabsToolbar-customization-target { visibility: collapse !important; }" somewhere. Where do I go to write that?

I tried the console by pressing f12, but that doesn't seem like that's it. In that article it also mentions to go to about:config and change the status of "browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar" to false, or delete it, but didn't work either.

There used to be an extension called "IE Tab". It allowed you to right click on the link, and open the site in a tab, using Internet Explorer, for sites that didn't work properly in Firefox. I was wondering if anybody knows of any similar extension that would do the same for Edge? I can't open Twitter (X) using Firefox anymore, but I can open it using Edge. I don't like Edge (obviously), but I have no choice. Thanks in advance!!!

In the search settings, I have set DuckDuckGo as my default search engine and removed all other engines from the list of options. However, I often notice that Google (which I have removed from the options) has replaced DuckDuckGo as my default search engine and has again been added as an optional search engine, without me knowing. Why is this happening? Is it possible to stop it happening, and if so, how can I stop it happening?

Hello – How to recover Google Search results without every result being an image, without blocking every image either.

I want the old style, where an image from Wikipedia was shown when available, and occasionally others. Whatever algorithm(s) were used before the 123 update are what I want, preferably without reverting to Firefox 122.

Every result an image is wasting so much of my time that I've resorted to searching in Opera (which means at least 80% of my internet time).

Cursory examination of Firefox settings offered no relief.

I want to disable the "language-aware word selection when double-clicking on text" feature that shipped in 122.0 (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/122.0/releasenotes/)

This new feature is cool, but it has actually slowed down the speed at which I select text. Originally, I could double-click to select an entire sentence, but now a double-click only selects a single word.

It would be great if there was a way to disable this feature for a specific language.

Firefox keeps asking me if I want to start it with windows. Again. And Again. AAAAAAND AGAIN.

How can I disable it? Seriously, Mozilla is really doing their best to scare me away... How could they think it's a good Idea to annoy their users over and over again?

As I understand, `autoconfig.js` (with `firefox.cfg`) can be used to have JavaScript run during startup to control Firefox's UI elements.

I have set up `autoconfig.js` in my `/usr/lib/firefox-developer-edition/defaults/pref` folder (I'm on EndeavourOS Linux). As instructed here, I've already put the two required files, `autoconfig.js` and `firefox.cfg` in their correct folders (`/usr/lib/firefox-developer-edition/defaults/pref` and `/usr/lib/firefox-developer-edition` in my machine).

The file `firefox.cfg` contains the following code:

However, every time I run Firefox, this message will appear:

 "Failed to read the configuration file. Please contact your system administrator."

If I empty out the `firefox.cfg` file, Firefox will run normally without showing the error message. It will also run normally if I just have something like this in the file:

 })();

I don't understand why the JavaScript code can't access the Firefox UI elements through `document` or `window.document`. If `autoconfig.js` isn't build for that, what should I use to change my browser's UI elements through JavaScript?

When typing if I make a mistake I'll usually just delete the entire word and retype it rather than fix the spelling but to do that I need to use CTRL. Now when I press CTRL it zooms in the page even though there are no other buttons being pressed.

I have Startparge set as my default search engine. I used to type directly into the address bar (see first image).

Press Enter, and the Startpage results page for this search phrase would show up. Somehow, this has now changed. I press Enter, but the result is just the Startpage home page, with a blank search box (see second image). So I then have to type the same phrase in again in Startpage's own box. This just trips me up.

The crazy thing is that this only happens sometimes - but more often than not. I haven't seen it work right for weeks: I just did it now to make screenshots, and it worked wrong. I just did it again and it worked as expected: pressing Enter took me to Startpage's results.

Any clues how to change settings to fix this?
