Hello,

I need to connect to http://localhost/ but Firefox will not allow me to do so.

It tells me: "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading".

This behaviour persists after:

- Clearing the cache. - Reinstalling the browser. - Disabling the Firewall.

I am using Firefox 103.0.2 on Linux Mint 21.

Many thanks.

I have a client certificate from CLoudflare, on Android and Linux it always works (with Chrome). But I mostly use Linux with Firefox, and there it works sometimes and sometimes not :/

I have already deleted all data (cookies etc.), and used the private browser, has brought nothing.

The weird thing is that it works after a while. e.g. I start firefox in the morning and want to go to the corresponding page and it doesn't work, but when I do something else and try it again later it works, and when I do something else again (in firefox or other programs, it doesn't matter) it doesn't work again.

And it doesn't matter if I use the private browser or not.

I have also already replaced the certificate and I have tried a legacy pkcs12 certificate, all has done nothing

(All certificates were in pkcs12 format)

Does anyone have any idea what this can be?

I have recently installed Firefox Developer Edition on my Linux Mint 20.3 laptop. It has more than the required resources to run Firefox smoothly but has one problem: (like in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/de/questions/1200248, the solution for that didn't work...) When I click a link in an external application it opens a new window with one empty tab but the URL won't be opened, neither in the previously open window now in the new window. I would have added a screen recording if possible but here seems to only be a screenshot possible.

So if you are not part of the problem, scenario that i can't avoid to have in mind, I wish solution or proposal for a more secure and functional environment. About firefox and thunderbird, basic apps for Linux.Manjaro or Ubuntu I trying to use. After many weeks I managed to signin and after my attempt to sync my phone, I received an error from you that makes me nervous. Please would you like to explain?

In my attempt to send you an image, doesn't accept odf, pdf...And my desk environment getting darker, almost hypnotic. This is a nightmare without exit for me.

I am running Firefox for Linux Mint, version 104.0. I really prefer Firefox but on too many sites, it just does not work. I just tried to login to Chase's website to look up something about my credit card. I entered my name and password in the box that appears for those things, clicked on the "SignIn" box, and nothing happened. I have no problem if I use Chromium. I log into united airline's site. I go to there page for earning mles and click on a box for booking a "dining miles". Eight firefox windows open all showing the dining miles website. With Chromium, I only get one.

I always assume the problem is poorly coded website on the part of those that are misbehaving. But this happens too foten. And that makes it a Firefox problem.

Can anyone provide insight into why Firsfox has problems with so many website from major companies? How can this be fixed?

Hi, I'm using FF 104.0 on Ubuntu Linux 20.04 with the Mozilla Multiple-Account-Containers Add-on. It works well, but since I've installed it, all downloads have been downloaded to my home/Downloads folder, which is not my FF setting (that's "always ask where to save"). I'm finding this quite annoying because I often forget moving my downloads manually, ending up with a cluttered folder. I've found no way to change the download settings within the add-on. Is there a security reason for that behaviour, or is it just a feature the add-on doesn't support yet? Thanks for the support!

Yesterday I updated Ubuntu to Jammy Jellyfish; this upgrade included replacing Firefox with Firefox-snap. I lost my history, passwords, bookmarks, and the links on my homepage. When I try to import history, Firefox can't find anywhere to import it from.

Does anyone know how to restore things, or failing that, how to install a version of Firefox that will allow me to access the files that may still be on my system?

Contents of my ~/.mozilla/firefox folder:

I believe cmdnc7p7 to be the current version, and szxl617q to be the old one,

but am clueless beyond that.

This has been bothering me for a while, but with the start of a new semester and working on many different machines, it's been happening a lot more frequently. Let me explain:

Problem: My homepage for a new window will seemingly at random change to a file in `file:///usr/share/doc/HTML/index.html` despite my profile having a setting for `browser.startup.homepage` to be `about:home`.

Expected Behavior: I set my homepage to `about:home` and this is respected by the system and does not change.

After some digging, I've tracked down the cause (but not the issue) Steps to reproduce: 1) On my linux desktop (Rocky Linux 8.5 -- a RHEL clone; KDE; Firefox 91.13) I set `browser.startup.homepage` to be `about:home` 2) On a Windows machine (I'm not 100% certain if I can replicate with other non-Windows systems) open firefox and login to my firefox account and run a sync. 3) Back on my linux box, when I open a new window, the homepage has changed to no longer be `about:home`.

What seems to be happening is that a sync will simply delete the `browser.startup.homepage` preference line entirely from the `prefs.js` file for my profile.

On the Windows machines (I have not checked macs, or ubuntu boxes I use), the "default" homepage setting (i.e., what happens when the `browser.startup.homepage` line is deleted from the prefs.js file) goes to `about:home`. On my Rocky Linux box, the "default" setting seems to be inheriting the homepage from a file named `all-redhat.js`. Or at least, I think that's where this comes from.

My temporary solution is to: > In about:config try toggling the preference services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.startup.homepage to false on the laptop / desktop devices. (from: https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1273715 )

I'm guessing this will work for now.

However, my actual question is to track down how these default settings are coming from!

On the linux box, in the directory `/usr/lib64/firefox/defaults/` I have `pref/channel-prefs.js` and `preferences/all-redhat.js`. There is no `mozilla.cfg` or really any way I see that `all-redhat.js` is loaded. The `all-redhat.js` file does have a pref setting for the `browser.startup.homepage` to set it to be `data:text/plain,browser.startup.homepage=file:///usr/share/doc/HTML/index.html`.

The windows boxes are a little different in that they do have a mozilla.cfg that gets explicitly loaded and in the mozilla.cfg sets a homepage in a similar way. However, the behavior, as described above, is different. The `about:home` seems to be a default, despite the homepage setting in mozilla.cfg.

What I'd like to know is: What is the loading priority of these config files, and how is the best way to setup a system that behaves consistently across OSes? While syncing works great for the most part, trying to understand the mechanics of the preference/profile loading is really making me scratch my head! Does redhat (and its clones) just do things differently?

Hello,

After installing Firefox (103.0.2) on a clean install of Manjaro (21.3.7) Gnome (42.4), I started noticing that mouse hover effects such as highlighted tabs, UI of a video-player appearing etc. are delayed after my PC exits hibernation (I am not sure if that is the only cause and if that really IS the cause). Weirdly enough the select menu I used to answer the "Which topic best describes your question?" question to create this post experiences no delay in highlighting the hovered element. Relaunching Firefox fixes this issue temporarily.

To be clear this is no performance issue since everything except mouse hover related interactions are fluid.

Thanks for helping out
