I have been using Firefox's built-in screenshot taking capability for years now and love it. However, since I purchased a new macbook air a few months ago and installed Firefox on that device, I notice something strange. When I go into setting and change the default location for Firefox to save downloads, the screenshots I take still end up being saved to my desktop instead of the download folder. On my old Macbook pro that I had been using for >4yrs this was never an issue.

I have tried resetting this but it does not seem to work. Any idea what is the issue?

We upgraded to latest Firefox version and noticed that jnlp files that used to download and open automatically doesn't work as expected. We know there is a new logic about download/open files in this Firefox version, but why the jnlp files are automatically downloaded but the file downloaded doesn't have any extension, then it cannot be opened with the associated program (javaws)?

The file is named frmservlet.jnlp and Firefox warns about that file extension, however once is downloaded it's named as frmservlet (no extension).

If I shut it down then the tab would complete the retrieval process and then writing the screen data finishing the task. Otherwise I was left eternally waiting for the tab to open. Could it be the update to DoH is causing a routing cross over? Either way I'd like my virtual shield to function in firefox because we re too censored up North. Can someone please help me?

Hi, how do we set Firefox 99 to use the os/system print dialog?

We are using Linux.

In Firefox 97/98 we could change these settings in about:config: widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker = 1 widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.mime-handler = 1 widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.print = 1 widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.settings = 1

Then we could get the os/system print dialog by clicking the "Print using the system dialog..." in the Firefox print preview.

In Firefox 99, widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.print is gone. No matter what we set the other widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.* keys to, we can only get the Firefox print dialog, when clicking the "Print using the system dialog..." in the Firefox print preview. We do not get the os/system print dialog.

So, how is that done now?

Thanks for your time :o)

Hi since the mos recent update of Firefox i am now finding an odd thing occurring - in the top right of the browser where you can quickly access, recently dowloaded items, if i try and move the downloaded item from there as normal, then the first time i move an item it is fine and normal, but if i try to move any other downloaded items in the list, then this doesnt work and only the same initial file can be moved/copied.

I noticed this firstly when i saved a bunch of images from my google photos and then tried to move those images to a facebook post from that downloaded quick list, and only the first image would get copied over.

Gentle-persons,

I noticed Firefox support does not mention System 11? [version 21H2(OS Build22000.556)] Is this a problem?

I am running Express VPN. Is DNS-over-HTTPS a partial duplication of the VPN function?

Since I am running a VPN, does it make any difference if DNS-etc. is enabled or disabled? Potential problems?

I have been running with default, DHS-etc. enabled, without any problem, as far as I know.

Thank you for your help! Best Wishes, wAlanB

I am running Firefox 99.0.1 (64-bit) on an iMac with MacOS Catalina 10.15.7. With one of the recent Firefox upgrades (a few months ago, not sure which version the issue started with), I can no longer print from Firefox using the MacOS system dialog. I have tried the suggested fix of going to the about:config page and setting the preference print.tab_modal.enabled = false , but that does not enable the system dialog print option, when I do a print from within Firefox it still comes up with the Firefox print dialog, which simply isn't usable for me. --> How do I set "print with system dialog" as default???

When viewing a WikiSpecies page with many displayed links (e. g., https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Cymindidina), clicking an unopened (light-colored) link opens it to a new page and turns the link color to a dark blue. This display is controlled by the choice "Never" on the Firefox "Settings/Colors" page. The colors of links seem predetermined by "Never", which also enables unused links to be shown red.

Is there any way to change the clicked-on link color from a fairly dark blue to a darker one, while still showing unused, empty links as red?

My eyesight is not the best, and a darker blue "Never", if possible, would help me be sure I had visited a page.

Some FF desktop notifications persist in the MacOS Notification Center (the sidebar you access by swiping in from the right), like Google Calendar and 1Password. But Gmail notification banners do not, and they are only displayed for a few seconds, making it very hard to click them quickly before they disappear. I have looked in Gmail settings to control persistence but that is not an available option. FF notifications do not include a persistence option for notifications either.

This occurred while using MacOS Big Sur on an Intel Macbook Pro 2019 and Monterrey on a M1 Macbook Pro 2021

I was wondering if some websites ask for my microhpone permission, it can autofocus to the microhpone permission dialog of Firefox.

Because I sometimes use the Tab key to browse the websites, when the websites ask, I have to: 1. Press Tab key to several times to first get to the Firefox Menu Bar. 2. Press directional key to choose the phone icon. 3. Press Enter key to enter in the permission dialog.

Thank you.

When I try to load a png file with transparent background into firefox 35.0.1, the background appears black. I've already tried Transparent standalone images add-on with no results, including https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/transparent-standalone-image/reviews/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_content=addons-manager-reviews-link and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/transparent-standalone-images/reviews/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_content=addons-manager-reviews-link

I also look at the previous question with the same name, from 2015: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1044582#question-reply

Unfortunately after trying to follow every step there, I have the same question as the OP did on 2/3/2015, except that the extension he recommends ( Old Default Image Style: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/old-default-image-style/ ) and the other two recommended by cor-el ( Transparent standalone images: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/transparent-standalone-imag/ and Custom Standalone Image Backgrounds: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/custom-image-backgrounds/ ) are all dead links in 2022.

I would appreciate some help with this.
