I'm trying to develop a simple addon using the Sessions API, so I wanted to play around a bit with the JS in the Browser Toolbox first. I have set devtools.chrome.enabled to true and pressed Ctrl+Shift+J to open the browser console. I'm able to run some JS (example: console.log("Hello world!") works as expected), but when I try to run something like sessions.getRecentlyClosed(), I get the following error message:

I tried browser.sessions.getRecentlyClosed() with the same error message about "browser.sessions" not being defined. Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it, or how to correctly import the Sessions API if that's what's needed?

The search bar is displayed on the home page. And you can even put a cursor in it. However, as soon as you start typing something, the cursor shuffles into the address bar and the text is entered there!

This is absolutely schizoid behavior! The worst UI is simply impossible to imagine!

YES, I KNOW I CAN USE THE ADDRESS BAR AS A SEARCH BUT I DON'T WANT!

Why didn't you give users any choice? Don't you care about your own users? This is absurdly allogical behavior of the interface! What fool could have thought of such a thing ?!

Besides the fact that it is corny inconvenient, there is another extremely important disadvantage. Users suffering from cataracts put a dark theme for a reason - they otherwise see badly.

So what happens when the user has a dark theme and the start page displays a huge whitelist at the top of the screen as they enter text, what do you think? I can tell you - a user with poor eyesight is blinded for a second.

Guys, when will you start thinking before changing the browser for the worse? Seriously, Firefox has lost its entire user base over the past few years. This is very disappointing.

How many are moving to a different browser thanks to Firefox/Waterfox incessant dialog prompting to 'update now'? There used to be an option to turn this off. No longer. Weekly or bi-weekly updates are rarely of any consequence anyway, so why must we endure prompt after prompt after prompt. Not everyone can stop what they're in the midst of to update on command. Speaking of incessant, I suggest Mozilla put more work into stopping incessant crashes. Now that would be an accomplishment. Rarely does an hour pass without my browser crashing. Say what you may about old Internet Explorer; at least it didn't crash all the time.

Hello, I'm a new Firefox user (I finally got fed up with ad-infested Chrome making necessary extensions I need to safely browse the internet not work any longer). When I changed to Firefox as my default browser, however, it replaced my local HTML file icon for my home page (which is on my desktop) to this butt-ugly icon I can't seem to change (I absolutely abhor dark backgrounds on ANYTHING, as they give me blurred vision and migraines thanks to a neurological issue). Unfortunately, Windows 10, in all of it's user unfriendliness, has decided not to give me the option to change icons using the properties window (there's no "Customize" tab). Can anyone tell me how to fix this, please? I do my own custom HTML pages a LOT, and I don't want to have to leave my default browser set to Chrome because their HTML file icon isn't a total (and literal) eyesore.

Hi, I complain about the new graphics, it makes me hard to work, find tabs, I don't like it at all!

I complain that Firefox doesn't advice me before about it, "your interface will be change to that", it simply impose it to users, it believes it's better and doesn't care about the opinion of users. This is really bad politic.

I complain I can't move back insalling version .88, I need to create a new profile an loose everything!! This is absolute unaceptable!! Now I'm here and I can't go back!!

I complain in all Mozilla products disable update doesn't have effect, even if I disable any possible "update" in the config register Firefox and Thuinderbird find the way to get the updates and force update all. This is also really nasty.

Looking now for a skin, a new interface, to get back visualization as in the past. Thank you for suggestions!

I've noticed that with the latest update, when I use my default search engine (Duckduckgo), that when I start a search term in the search text box for Duckduckgo, the term I'm using gets typed into the URL address bar. How do I stop this behaviour completely?

i just upgraded my firefox to the newest version(89). when i type something in the google search bar in the home page, it just redirects to the address bar on top of the screen. i don't want this to happen. because i use the address bar to only type URLs and the google search bar to search random stuff on google, this was the case in my last version. please help me sort this. see this for clear understanding  : https://drive.google.com/file/d/17Y0bG64nhtymn--CCi3rOMEVLFAQ6zAI/view?usp=sharing

I've read the instructions from 2020 on how to fix this: "To disable search and force everything typed on the address bar to be treated as URLs, follow the steps below.

   Go to about:config
   Accept the risk and continue.
   Search for keyword.enabled and toggle it's value from True to False.
   Search for browser.fixup.alternate.enabled and toggle it's value from True to False."

There are various versions of these fixes. None of them work so far. The problem continues. When I enter a search term in the Firefox search function on the body of the webpage, the search area greys out, the search text pops up in the address bar, which reads it as an url, and the next message from Firefox is:

Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site. We can’t connect to the server at test. If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

   Try again later.
   Check your network connection.
   If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web."

The 3rd image attached here shows that there is no option to remove Search from the address bar in settings. The 1st of 2 options is "use the address bar for search and navigation". The 2nd of 2 option is "add search in toolbar." Switching to the second option does not resolve the problem of the "main body search bar" not working.

Note: Firefox is set to Allowed by firewall and antivirus program which includes VPN.

Prior to updating, when I typed a question from the Firefox homepage in the search box in the middle of the page, my search parameters would appear there where it would be easy to see. Now, every time I type anything in a search box, it jumps to the address bar, causing me to have to shift my line of sight to the top left of my screen rather than the center of the screen. Not to mention the text on the address bar is several orders of magnitude smaller than the test on the web pages search bar. So how to I shut this behavior down? If I click in a search box I expect my text to appear in that search box, NOT in the address bar.

The new update on Firefox they changed the tool bar and made all the tabs floating it bothers me how it looks just it floating doesn't look good this is just my opinion some people like it i just wish with this update that there is a new option that allows you to choose in settings or as a addon in the Firefox addons i just want to get the old tool bar back because this one bothers me and how they changed the right click menu and the 3 bars i just want to know how to get it back without having to install anything like a addon.

I have spent an hour of my work day trying to fix what you broke!!!!! I don't have time for this crap!!!!

Appearances didn't need to change. Where are the Tab borders. Tabs were contrasted against the menu bar. There were 3 dots in the address bar for a pull down that included Screenshots and Print Preview. ALL THIS IS GONE!!!!!!! WHY????? Fix it or do I need to find another browser?

I would add a screen shot but I CAN'T you took that ways too!!!!

In the website, https://roll20.net/, there are popup sheets that I cannot make into a tab in Firefox. I read something about doing "about:config" but honestly I couldn't understand what to do and if the popup would let me do it. I just want to be able to have a simple option, like Chrome, where I right click on the menu bar of the popup window and select to make it a tab. I can't believe that Firefox doesn't already have this ability. It has been a great app that I have used for years; I really don't want to change. Can Firefox add this so it's an easy process?

My firefox menu all the sudden changed from the full drop down to only showing 4 options. Now I have to scroll quite a bit to see all the options. See attached picture. Anyone know how to fix this? This is very annoying...

Downloaded the new version, how do I uninstall it? It is garbage. There are big spaces between the tabs and the tool bars, the favourites are so far apart that my menu is 3 pages long, and the themes were designed by a 3 year old girl with a fetish for unicorns. The only people that will use this are uneducated millenial inbreds, who spend the entire day taking selfies and looking in a mirror. It makes windows 10 look professional!! How do I roll it back? I suppose there is always google spyware - chrome as they call it.
