I have been battling with Firefox for a bit now with this 'helper tool' download. Every single update it requests access, which is has, and then won't actually open Firefox. I have to uninstall and reinstall each time to get some level of functionality back.

Checking online this isn't a problem isolated to my own computer, but aside from getting the pro version, there were no great solutions.

Can this issue please be fixed?

On one macOS Sonoma machine, Firefox launches very slowly and then crashes. On another Mac with the same macOS version, Firefox works normally.

Even in Safe Mode, Firefox cannot start its GPU and socket subprocesses. Steps to Reproduce 1. Download the latest Firefox from the official Mozilla website. 2. Install it normally in /Applications. 3. Launch Firefox by double-click or from terminal. Firefox starts very slowly and then crashes or becomes unstable.

When launching Firefox in Safe Mode: /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox --safe-mode [Parent 1846, IPC I/O Parent] WARNING: Failed to launch gpu subprocess @MachCheckInListener TimedOut (Error:0) [Parent 1846, IPC I/O Parent] WARNING: Failed to launch socket subprocess @MachCheckInListener TimedOut (Error:0) [GFX1-]: Fallback remains SW-WR [GFX1-]: Failed to launch GPU process after 3 attempts

• Reinstalling Firefox does not fix the issue. • Safe Mode does not fix the issue. • The problem appears to be related to Firefox child process initialization (GPU and socket processes). • The browser often starts in crash recovery state. • Automation tests fail with: “Browsing context has been discarded”

Firefox is currently unusable on this machine due to repeated crashes and inability to initialize required subprocesses. • Any recommended workaround or diagnostic steps.

New laptop. Installed Firefox. Set up 2 of the "new" type profiles. Typical extensions (Bitwarden, Bit.ly, Firefox Color). Not too long after, Firefox will no longer launch and the only remediation I've found is to do a clean uninstall/reinstall including deleting registry keys. I've now done this three times now. Environment information

• i7 Core Ultra/32GB RAM
• SentinelOne - Corporate Environment. Installs Firefox Extension. There are no signs in the S1 portal or client that it is blocking firefox.
• nVIDIA RTX PRO 500 Blackwell Video Card. Updated to current driver 582.16
• Threatlocker - Computer is new and has been in "Learning Mode" so it isn't an issue
• Tailscale runs on this machine, but it doesn't seem to make a difference if it is running.

Nothing in the %APPDATA% crash reports folder for firefox. Crash dumps for firefox are in %LOCALAPPDATA%/CrashDumps. One read by AppCrashView is attached. It is a 0xc0000005 Access violation in StackHash_2264.

This is a problem where renaming the firefox.exe to firefox1.exe will get it to run but it seems to lose track of profiles.

Firefox is my favorite browser and I'd like to resolve this, but I really can't afford spending much more time on it or continually clean reinstalling and rebuilding profies. I've seen other similar posts, but no clear resolution.

This problem just started with the latest version of Firefox that opens with two profiles. It worked for a short time and then failed. Firefox will not open if I choose the default profile. I can open Firefox if I choose Profile #2, but it has none of the history of the default profile. I lose all of my extensions, history, bookmarks - everything.

How can I get back to where I was yesterday? (Note: I'm just a user, not a computer geek, and don't understand the buzzwords or technospeak. I can follow clear instructions like copy, delete, rename, etc.)

I'm using an HP laptop with Windows 11.

I'm a Mac user on desktop. Something happened to my Firefox about two weeks ago. I was able to bring up Firefox which had all my bookmarks, passwords, etc. What is different is that I can not bring up Firefox by hitting the icon in the dock. If Firefox is already up and I hit he icon, it will jump to the front. But not if it is sitting in the dock.

I updated Firefox on Mac and was prompted to install a helper and now Firefox will not run. I've tried several times. I uninstalled Firefox and tried to reinstall but when I try it doesn't work.

I have tried all the troubleshooting steps of uninstalling, reinstalling and backing up my profile but on every machine after one session or one time instance and if I have to close Firefox or restart my workstation, I can no longer launch Firefox. It leads me to believe there is some kind of profile issue or corruption with my account but for months I've been battling this issue and can not resolve it. I do remember getting some Firefox window showing the Profile option or Create Profile and I believe nothing was selected. I proceeded to select the Profile on the left and it seems after that is when all the problems started to occur. If anyone has experienced this or can assist, I would greatly appreciate it.

Whenever I try to open firefox it automatically opens google chrome, I haven’t used chrome for over a year and i’ve set firefox as my default app for everything. I double checked the shortcut to make sure it’s going to the right place and it is. and i’ve tried deleting Chrome via Revo Uninstaller but the issue persists.

this wasn’t happening 5 minutes ago and i can’t exactly think of a reason for the change.

I think my account had been hacked,,, I icon have been faded out on my mack, and it says: You can't open this application FireFox, because it may be damaged or incomplete

As the title says Firefox has stopped working for Mac a few days ago after the update. all I get when I open it is a blank grey box. My software is up to date and I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox multiple times, nothing worked. is there any way to fix this other than waiting for Firefox to update again? I just want to bring this to Firefox's attention so it can be fixed, I like Firefox it's my go-to browser to use.

Firefox is already running old Firefox must be closed. I have tried everything in the help menu. delete parent.lock , restarting etc. nothing is working. I can create new profile but i cant find any toolbar, bookmarks etc please help

A few days ago (December 17th or so), Firefox just up and stopped loading altogether. I’m trying everything I can find, but to no avail. The internet itself is working fine. This is the message I’m getting (see attached).

I’m getting desperate, I can only do so much on my phone!

Hello, I have installed the latest Firefox on my Windows 11 desktop PC. I have created a shortcut to Firefox in the start menue Since a few week, I observed that I had to invoce Firefox twice in order to get is running once. The same happens if I double-click on firefox.exe in the intallation folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox): After the first double-click, the windows activity circle appears for a few seconds and then dissapears again (without staring Firefox). After the second double-click, Firefox starts immediately.

I can repeat this several times.

• first double click > nothing happens
• second double click > Firefox starts
• closing Firefox
• third double click > nothing happens
• fourth double click > Firefox starts
• closing Firefox
• fifth/seventh/... double click > nothing happens
• sixth/eigth/.. double click > Firefox starts

I have no idea what might have gone wrong. Any suggestion from the community is appreciated. Best,

After a Windows 11 update, Firefox does not automatically start although set to do it and when I start it, a small rectangular box appears in the upper left corner of the screen.

Please resolve.

I try hard to use firefox in headless mode for a python selenium project in freebsd. But firefox complains about GPUs and the absense of a X-Server, but this is a headless mode and crashes with a segmentation fault. Why does it want a GPU and X-Server in headless mode? Does not make sense.

Firefox is no longer working on my new Surface Pro. I have uninstalled and re-installed several times and even the downloader throws this error once it finishes. I simply can no longer use the browser. This is a huge inconvenience since I saved so many links for my work. Please help.
