Hello All,

I'm using Firefox 102.12.0esr (64-bit) on MX-Linux 21.3. Is it possible to have Firefox display the Menu Bar in fullscreen mode?

I have added

:root[inFullscreen] #PersonalToolbar {

visibility: visible !important;

}

to userChhrome.css which is great, it makes the bookmarks toolbar show when in fullscreen, but I don't know what to use for the Menu Bar. Perhaps something in about:config? When in fullscreen and I right click up the top near the Tab bar, Menu Bar is checked but doesn't show. There are things that don't appear in the 3 line menu on the top right that do appear in the Menu Bar's menus that I'd like access to in fullscreen mode.

Thanks

Until a few days ago, Firefox on my computer always opened as a new window when I clicked on the icon at the bottom of the taskbar. But then suddenly something happened; the icon went "white" and I had to first remove it and then put it back in the taskbar. Now Firefox does not open in the same way anymore. To be able to open a new window, you must right-click and select "open in new window". Previously, the "opening of a new window" happened automatically when I clicked on the icon. How do I get the old "opening" back, which I think is better?

Is it possible to set a container as the default for new links that originate from outside Firefox? For example links I click on my email or messages apps, or share with my computer using airdrop? I would like to create a container called Default or General for example, and set that as the default for all links without an existing container, or where there isn't a container open.

This would mean that, unless I specifically open a new tab without a container, everything is contained. That will help to ensure that cookies and site tracking data is contained by default - making it easier to clear cookies (by deleting the container) and reducing the effect of any website links that I am sent - even well meaning friends might send friendly and useful websites with pernicious cookies and trackers (or versions of weblinks that are not covered by the existing containers, eg uk.linkedin.com v www.linkedin.com )

I see in the release notes just now that there's "Make “default container” entry keyboard navigable " - which has raised my hopes that this feature is possible - is it somewhere in the menus that I am not finding?

Also, iMac crashed and immediately restarted without a fault report while I was using Firefox today. Following instructions from the Apple Support Desk I have since Command "R" reloaded the Mac operating system (both normally and in Safe Mode) and the Firefox app as well but the issue persists. While it might be a minor issue (no auto-load) I am concerned there might be more serious underlying compatibility problems or system failures I have yet to experience. In contrast, my current macOS installation will add/delete Thunderbird (and couple of other apps I experimented with) on the auto start up list without any problem. The only recent macOS system change I think was to install an update to bring it up to Ventura 13.4.1 (c), from 13.4.1 I think.

The Apple Genius Desk at the Canberra store ran a complete hardware check which did not report any faults only a few days ago. In all other respects the iMac and apps "appear" to be running normally.

Any advice on rectifying the problem would be appreciated - e.g. a full Apple Store Reset/Reload of macOS followed by a fresh start with a complete reload of my current app collection as I am not all sure where the problem rests - with the macOS or the Firefox app, some incompatibility or a download corruption in either?

How do I get firefox to the old look. No double spacing, background where address bar is to go back and no network like tabs for folders (back to actual yellow folders). Sorry for the image quality. Also this happens about once a year I tried to remove malware (which I had), but didn't work.

Since firefox updated to 115 (maybe it was also present in 114 already and I didn't notice) my search bar (which shows when you press ctrl+f) is repeating my skin colors.

I am using this skin currently: https://addons.mozilla.org/pl/firefox/addon/firefox-lightblue/

Before updates this bar was white or beige, just some basic color without skin applied. Now it tries to be one with top bar (it contains bottom half of image from top bar) which makes it harder to read text that is present on it. Were there any changes to how skins work? Skin was not updated since 13.05.2019 so it must be firefox problem. Is there any pref in about config or someplace else to disable applying skin to search bar?

I noticed that on some pages bar is still white. For example on this page it is white. No idea why. On other pages when I open and close them multiple times it is sometimes white sometimes colored...

I DESPISE icons. How can I repace moronic icons with text? I will continue to use old, outdated, insecure program until I can have text. Oh, I found out how to prevent updating so Firefox will not update to icons only. I use a real computer and not a phone so text is important.

when saving a file from a website, e.g. an image file, the save dialogue window pops up to give me an option to choose destination folder and amend saved filename.

The save dialogue window opens fullscreen. The "Save" and "Cancel" buttons are at the bottom.

By preference, I keep my Windows taskbar hidden, to pop up when I move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen.

Unless I very, very carefully move the mouse pointer with my arthritic fingers to the precise location of the buttons I risk overshooting the button and triggering the pop-up of the hidden taskbar... which then blocks access to the button I wanted to click.... so I have to wait for the taskbar to seep off the screen so I can more carefully try again to save the file.

It would be so helpful if Microsoft provided an option to set a delay before the pop-up of the hidden taskbar triggers, even if it were something buried in registry, but apparently this is just one of the little UI design oversights for which Microsoft is famous, so there is no such option.

Consequently 3rd party application developers would be wise to factor in the seeping hidden taskbar.

Is there a way to stop the save dialogue window always opening in full-screen? I'm pretty sure it never used to.

Thanks folks!

I've disabled anti-aliasing using the about:config option:

gfx.text.disable-aa: true

However, when I do this, the font letters becomes visually inconsistent. Some strokes are one pixel in width, others two pixels. The letter 'o' becomes squashed on the right hand side for example. I've attached a screenshot.

I presume this is because when aa is disabled, font hinting becomes disabled as well. I would like to be able disable aa and keep font hinting enabled.

I like to disable aa because I have below average eye sight and I prefer to display text fonts with hard edges because I find it easier to read.

I'm on Linux, so ClearType options aren't available.

I've tried all the other fonts, they all come out with the same issue (displayed in that font of course).

Hi. I'm having trouble finding a way to associate *.msg files with the default Outlook application. In earlier versions of Firefox, when opening a msg file, it automatically opened the Outlook application to view the file. Currently, I have to download the file and from the downloaded files open it. I can't find an option to associate msg files to open automatically in the Outlook application.

I can do that with pdf or doc/docx files but I can't do it with msg files. With these files there is no option "Always open with XXX application" like with pdf doc.

Is there any option to add this ?

I use firefox ios app on an iPhone 7. I also use screen time, which is an apple feature. After a recent update, screen time starting blocking every single website on firefox, as in would need the screen time passcode to unlock, when the screen time block all apps time comes around. Previously screentime would only block the app as a whole, so useful for not being on the phone as much but not completely frustrating if quickly needed to search something after the screen time lock all apps thing happens. Firefox is now being treated as how safari was when screentime was first introduced, as in as a browser rather than an app. Since previously firefox was only treated as an app by screentime. Which is how I'd prefer it to be treated for my settings. How do i get the app back to how it was behaving before the update?
