Hello!

I recently got a new computer with Windows 11 freshly installed. I downloaded Firefox, went to take a screenshot, and the usual shortcut of Ctrl + Shift + S does not work. I can right click and Take a Screenshot, and I can use other Ctrl + Shift shortcuts, like Ctrl + Shift + T to reopen closed tabs. The only one that doesn't work is screenshots. I can also put Screenshots in my top row Toolbar and use it, just not the keyboard shortcut.

I refreshed Firefox, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, as well as checked the about:config extensions.screenshots.disabled preference. It has been set to false, so I have set it to true and false again hoping it would "reset" it but nothing. Thank you!

Is spell-checking done locally on my computer, or is it done on the Mozilla website? I just found out that the Chrome and Edge browsers send my typed message to the home office, and that is where the spell-checking is done. Can I assume that this process is done locally on my own computer with Firefox?

I've been paranoid about security for many years, and every little bit of info I can add to my personal well-being lets me sleep that much better at night.

I am currently 82 years of age and have been using Firefox since it first became available, just because of its advertised security features. Quite happy with it and hope it stays on top of my needs.

And I have the same question regarding Thunderbird and its security properties.

Thank you.

I've been having an issue for a while now where the cloudflare challenges that ask you to click the check mark to "verify your connection is secure" would just endlessly ask me to click the button and never continue. Sometimes it would say to unblock access to challenges.cloudflare.com.

But if I a launch an incognito window I can visit website with the challenge and it won't even ask! I've added all my extensions to run in incognito mode and everything still works, I can visit the websites in incognito just fine. So the one changing variable is incognito vs non-incognito.

I can have two windows open, one incognito and one not, and browse to the same website and the non-incog window will fail but the incog will just go to the site.

I thought incognito was supposed to only affect the session storage? Does it silently change other things to the running environment of the browser (about:config options, slightly different extension configs)?

Anyone know why this small change would suddenly allow cloudflare challenges to work?

I am using FF on a Windows 11 desktop. When I try to log into familysearch.org using FF, Avast detects that I am being redirected to https://590-buk-726.mktoresp.com. I have used both Avast and FF for years, and this is the first time this has happened. FamilySearch is a very legitimate genealogy site. I contacted Avast and they refreshed FF, and I was able to log in ok, but when I tried it again I got the same warning. I cleared all cookies - same problem. I deleted FF and re-installed - same problem. I am not getting this warning when I use MS Edge. Has anyone seen anything like this? What should I do? Thanks, Mike

Everything was working fine on Firefox up until a couple weeks ago when my searches started lagging.

What happens is - if I type a search into the main URL/search bar on the browser, it loads just fine. But if I type a 2nd search into a website search bar, such as on google.com, there is about a 12 second delay between me hitting enter and the page actually starting to load. The page freezes during this time and is unable to be interacted with. This issue does not happen in any other browsers outside of Firefox.

Things I've tried so far: Troubleshoot mode/safe mode, clearing cookies and cache, uninstalling and re-installing Firefox

Nothing has helped... wondering if this was caused by an update?

Having used Thunderbird for some time, I installed it on a new PC, and found that virtually all my emails on a particular account seem to have been deleted, despite the app being set up to retain them. I checked on the webmail (BT) and they have gone. The account is set up as IMAP - as is another account on the same server, which seems OK. BT won't engage with me on this as they "don't support third party apps" I assume that 3 years worth of important client history is gone for ever? Can anyone suggest what I did wrong, or is this a software failure?

Recently I activated 2FA on Firefox. I scanned the barcode by Google authenticator, to make it my code generator.

I'm now trying to enter Firefox on my laptop. After typing my password, when I try to enter one of the generated Google Authenticator codes, I constantly get a response "Invalid code".

I had to use one of the backup codes (out of the 8), and managed to enter my account on the laptop, but none of the logins and passwords were found there (it's empty).

My first question is why does Firefox reject the codes received from Google Authenticator (do I have to cancel my 2FA and define it once again? but I did everything by the book, with GA, and it seemed fine the other day).

My second question: I finally managed to enter my account with one of the eight backup code. Why are there no passwords etc? Aren't they automatically drawn from my usual (existing) account?

The laptop runs Win 10. I installed the 2FA on my main computer, which runs Win 11.

Thank you very much in advance, Eldad

Lost power. Computer shut down. Reopened Firefox and no passwords. Looked in profile and there are 4 files logins.json.corrupt (149 kb) all created today at same time and 1 file logins.json (2 kb). I ASSUME my passwords are in the 149KB json file? If I delete logins.json (2kb) and rename one of the 149KB to logins.json, when I reopen firefox, it just does it again: renames logins.json to logins.json.corrupt (149kb) and creates a new logins.json (2kb). Is there anyway to recover these passwords? Windows 7 Latest version of firefox

Thanx

I used the support article [Hide Tab bar if there is only one tab] to hide the tab bar when there is only one tab. I now regret it and want to go back. I tried browser.tabs.tabmanager.enabled = true but that didn't work. And unfortunately I don't understand the "chosen" solution, so I can't reverse it. The regret is because it's hard to drag a single tab and drop it in another browser window.

I have Firefox installed on two PCs. I see the option to add "Recommended by Pocket" under Settings/Home, but on the other one I don't. Screen shots of both are attached. I have completely uninstalled, cleaned up all Firefox files and re-installed Firefox multiple times on the PC where I don't see the Pocket option but nothing changes. Also gone into about:config and tried making changes from there. I want the Pocket recommendations to show on the Firefox Home page for both PCs.

Thanks

When you open a link from the sidebar while holding ctrl, firefox opens it in a new tab and switches to it immediately; whereas when you click a link from a webpage with ctrl, it does not switch to the new tab (unless you hold shift as well, or check "When you open a link, image or media in a new tab, switch to it immediately" in settings > general > tabs). I would like if firefox does not automatically switch to opened links from the sidebar (history, bookmark, etc.), when I open them with ctrl? (I know I can hold shift to do that, but I was wondering if there might be a preference in about:config to change the reverse this behaviour for sidebars)

Thanks, Ibr.
