Disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer

You can also set a different third-party PDF viewer to handle PDF files, instead of Firefox’s built-in PDF viewer. To switch from using the built-in PDF viewer to another viewer: 1. Click the menu button and select . 2. In the panel, go down to the Applications section. (SO WHERE IN THE HELL IS THIS SECTION???) YOU CAN'T DO I never selected Mozilla to open any pdf and there's no where to opt out or change based on what all the troubleshooting tips say... All these tips must be located on a much older version of Firefox cause they ain't in my version OR they are hid under some dubious section... Pretty frustrating....when you want to use Adobe and can't cause I'm locked in under Firefox....don't know how that has happened unless it was done automatically under one of the many current upgrades that have been coming down over the last month.

My Firefox recently updated itself to version 112.0 - since then, when I close all its windows and then run FF again, on all websites opened in tabs (e.g. Facebook, Google Search etc.) I am logged off. In previous FF versions, my logged-in status was preserved between individual FF runs. Firefox not only logs me out of all sites, but also logs me out of the LastPass extension, which also stayed logged in in previous Firefox versions. Anyone knows what is going on? I dont want to have to relogin to all sites each time...

Nothing has changed except all fields are blank when I enter and the pw manager is also blank. My passwords and logins under TOOLS is still full.

What happened? I did NOT change any pw or history settings since yesterday - as a matter of fact, I did not change anything except to enter cookies exceptions.

Thank you.

Greetings from North-East of France, since a few weeks ago I'm seeing a (sort of) pop-up window suggesting to login with a Google account (see the screenshot attached). I've done some internet search to find out how to get rid of it, but the only suggestion I get is to modify an option in a Google account. However, I do not have a Google account! How to get rid of this disturbing pop-up? I already use Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin, yet Google passes through them! Thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

I opened Firefox as usually, but passwords are missing, only logins are available. There is also a file called logins.json-1.corrupt in the profile folder.

Renaming it back to logins.json with restarting the computer does not work.

There are no previous versions of these two files available in the system.

Please let me know how I can recover passwords, may be with a special software.

Thank you!

I am unable to de-select the "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites" setting. The option is checked and I cannot "uncheck" the box. The texted is grey and the check box is a light color denoting it's not able to be toggled.

I searched for a solution and it's not the same problem as others are having where they have the the "never remember history" option enabled. My setting is "remember history."

I am a personal user, and this is my personal computer. I have admin rights on my computer. Running Windows 10 Pro.

Thank you for any help with this.

Hi all :)

From a fresh Linux Debian Bullseye I try to connect to a local machine with Firefox (v97 64-bits) by its hostname (avahi server with default domain "local") with the port 6180 bound to a remote web service port (61 is the distant machine IP and 80 is the forwarded port).

When I want to open this URL : http://bionic.local:6180/ FF displays "We can't find this site ... Unable to connect to server at bionic.local ... check your network connection and firewall"

BUT ping bionic.local works perfectly and resolve the good IP address from the Chromium navigator the same URL works without a problem, I can open the distant web site.

This workaround works : add a static resolution in the /etc/hosts file : 192.168.0.71 bionic bionic.local => so FF works in the expected way for now ! But as I said this a workaround and a bad solution.

I supposed too the port was blocked because I accessed an unusual port. So I tried this without success.

How the hell make that FF v97 allows me to use an unusual port ? Or is it bound to the domain "local" which is no more accepted by FF ?

Thank you in advance for your help. With adelphity, lnj

Does it have something to do with bitdefender or bitdefender VPN? Can anyone else test thie out with firefox and bitdefenders full security on? Firefox is set to save everything by the way. Only started happening after installing bitdefender.

Hello,

The pop-up blocker exceptions are not working for some sites which I, of course, use a lot. The sites are listed in the exceptions, but Firefox stubbornly continues to block them. I sincerly consider walking away from Firefox (notwithstanding I love it and being a long term user), because it happens with sites I frequently use on a daily base.

I've looked around but none of the solutions work for me as those articles are rather old.

My version of Firefox: 99.0.1 (64bit) running under Windows 10 Pro

Hoping to find a solution here.

Hi,

No matter what I do, a google dialogue box encouraging me to use google for password management, pops up every time I go to a site, new or existant.

I've gone into my google account to disable such requests, and, indeed, otherwise use google for nothing....not even search............but they keep coming anyway.

am using ubuntu 20.04, and no other utility or code is giving me this trouble.

I want to stop this dialogue box and eliminate any code in firefox or ubuntu which supports it.....as I have no idea why this box showed up....one day it just started.

Many thanks!

Obviously Firefox/Mozilla makes ~80% of their incomse $ by shipping the browser with google as default search engine, which is a privacy nightmare but who cares, it's for the money... So my best bet would be that's also the reason the default mailto suggested by firefox is google, is that correct? Does that mean something of google ins injected into Firefox? Look i have no idea to be honest, i do hate google and now im woondering where is the gmail logo comming from, is it stored somewhere inside of firefox? Is it just the logo or might there be more google crap injected to firefox behind the scenes?

Firefox will not save ANY new passwords. Some older ones still work. Checking menu->passwords gives 'no logins found'

I use Thunderbird Mail which I had not updated for years. I was starting to get a lot of certificate errors of some emails so I did an update (and set auto update) It's now at 91.4.1. This update broke Thunderbird in that is needed a passwork every time is started, or sent email, or attempted to check the server for emails. Totally unusable. Searches to fix this suggested two files are used, and one post suggested a third file. Suggestions were delete these files and Thunderbird would recreate them. I did, it did and the problem remained. However the third file mentioned in only one post DIDN'T get recreated. From memory the three files were cert9.db, key4.db and logins.json and I think it was logins.json that didn't create. I created a dummy file of the same name and now I can save my email login.

As a result of the above cert9.db, key4.db and logins.json were deleted, from the Firefox profile as well as the Thunderbird one.

On starting Firefox I quickly found I'd lost all the logins, and started re-adding them as I needed them. This worked for a while, but now I can't add any more. Firefox still prompts to save but next time that site is accessed it asks for the password again (earlier sites are still remembered) The dates on the files are logins.json 14/11/2021, cert9.db & key4.db 15/11/2021 (current date 26/12/2021) I removed all these files from the Firefox profile, started Firefox and it recreated the two db files with the current date, logins.json was created with the date 13/11/2021, which is the date of logins-backup.json Next I deleted the three files and logins-backup.json and started Firefox, db files recreated but not logins.json this time.

In both cases the earier web sites still remember the passwords and the laster ones don't, and firefox still shows 'No logins found'

Where are the passwords stored? It's clearly not cert9 or key4, there's a hight source that can recreate these files

Is there a registry problem?

Thanks

Today, after browsing about whether or not I should continue using Firefox as my password manager, I decided to mitigate the most important security flaw in browser based password managers, by setting up a Primary Password. I choose to use an easy to remember 8 word long passphrase as my Primary Password. I noted down the passphrase in my diary. Due to problem while loading YouTube, I decided to restart Firefox by going to about:profiles and selecting "restart normally". This issue where Firefox starts to struggle connecting to internet is a relatively common occurrence on my Firefox install, and restarting Firefox fixes the issue. When Firefox restarted, I was prompted to enter the primary password. I confidently entered my passphrase, but it was rejected. I tried to typing to it more carefully several times. I got my diary and checked it to make sure I was entering the passphrase correctly. Following troubleshooting steps on a similar thread, I restarted firefox, no luck. I than rebooted my computer, issue persisted. I decided to restart Firefox with extensions disabled, and also in troubleshooting mode. Firefox still rejects my passphrase. I have my Firefox account synchronized with two Android phones. Will reinstalling Firefox and syncing with my Firefox account solve the problem? In a similar troubleshooting thread, renaming key4.db and logins.json is suggested. However, it has not been explained very clearly. My logins.json file was modified an hour before disaster, even though I had made no changes to any of my logins or the master password. Is my logins.json corrupted causing the issue? I will like to point out a design flaw in Firefox which might have caused the issue. I usually want to see what I am typing when I am entering an encryption password. This is to make sure that I don't mistype something. However, in Firefox Primary Password configuration window, there is not option to see what you are typing. Firefox relies on low probability of typing the wrong password twice. I don't think devs should be so worried about shoulder attacks to not even allow users option to view what they typing. My case might be that low probability situation where I made the same mistake while typing the passphrase twice.
