I remember the days when Firefox was really customizable...

You could actually select how far back FF would remember your history...I used to have nearly two years' worth of history...before the 'new and improved' system of 'rapid releases', that is.

It's not the release cycle that p****s me off, it's the little surprises that you discover later. Some of you know what I mean, the ones that the developers don't tell you about...the ones that all of the bug fixes, security patches and new features are supposed to make us overlook or forget the things that have been removed or don't work right...

Sorry, but I'm getting tired of wondering what in the hell is going to go wrong next...

I just got Firefox 23, and found there is no more Enable Javascript checkbox in the Content area of Preferences and there is no more ability to prevent changes to the functioning of the context menu and prevent the changing of the size or position of the window. I really do not understand why certain settings to control what may be done by web page code to the browser are being gutted out. Presumably it means that any smartass who can write a web page can force my browser window to be whatever size he wants it to be. That used to drive me crazy in the past, and it will do the same thing again. Is there any way to make a capability policy that could stop the resizing of the window? I just found out that I can still use the context menu if I use Shift-right-click. Why the change?

Autohiding the tab bar does not work any more. I thought the big argument for trying to put tabs on top and into the title bar was to save space? Forcing the tab bar to be visible all the time will certainly not save space, so why do it?

My bookmark menu was removed from the bookmarks toolbar. I tried to find a button that would put it back, and there are two bookmarks buttons in the customize window. Are the developers trying to make things harder, or what?

When I updated to Firefox 25.0.1 for Mac (running 10.6.8), it seems to have created the Yahoo Edition version of this latest update, and that's not what I want. I prefer a standard Firefox homepage and Google search. Now the "default home page" is this Yahoo configuration, and I can't seem to change it. The Preferences don't help since Restore to Default just confirms the Yahoo version, with no way to switch. What do I do to get out of this yahoo version?

I migrated to Firefox to get an uncluttered homepage and have been very happy until now. However since today, when I open Firefox, the usual Firefox symbol changes to a poorly defined Firefox symbol, with a banner 'Click Me'. If I do this just four letters appear, nothing further. Also a robotic figure appears with an invitation to get the Humble Mozilla bundle and play on. I have tried resetting the homepage but it reverts to the unwanted one on restart.

Is this a Mozilla change or is has the page been hi-jacked.

I have an Aple Mac running OS X 10.6.8 with F-Secure security software.

The add-on titled "Mozilla Archive Format" will CREATE .maff archives, but will not OPEN them. In this thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1059827 I was advised to find a separate Plug In to read them. I searched the Addons for "maf" and ".maf" and ".maff" and "maff" and THERE ARE NO PLUG INS TO READ THE DAMN FILES !!! Searching the net in general yields spam - articles about what the format is, and references mostly to items that run on a PC.

How do I stop the messages from appearing?

Why after being signed in, am I asked to sign in, and then told I'm using an incorrect password, when I just used it to sign in the first time??? I'm just trying to respond to, or ask a question in the forum, and now I can't sign in .... again. What's up with that?

I see on the Add-ons Manager page, this:

"Add-ons is switching to Firefox Accounts for login. Sign in now to transfer your account."

Yet when I go to sign in (again), I'm told it's incorrect. Then if I'm about to hit the "reset my password" button, it warns me that: "When you reset your password, you will lose any Sync data that is not on one of your devices. Learn how Sync works."

Why is this such a confusing mess? Why must I sign in, when I'm already signed in, etc.???

Youtube is still working with Safari and Chrome but for some reason it stopped working with Firefox. This happened the night before it updated to Firefox 25. I thought the update was the issue but it's not. I've tried everything that I've read about to fix this issue. I've tried playing vids in safe mode, updated to the latest version of flash, disabled hardware acceleration, I've cleared all cookies and cache, I've reset firefox, I've deleted all my add-ons, I've deleted and re-installed firefox. Nothing is working. Anyone got a clue what to do?
