The latest example is the button to sign into LinkedIn. It is not working in Firefox, but it does in other browsers. I have other examples just from today. I have used firefox as default for many years. I assume this is a security thing, but these are basic links. I have no add-ons or other complications. Most times, I do not even realize there is a problem, but when I feel something is wrong, I try another browser and it works. Thank you.

I noticed that a setting on the about:config page was removed: the "security.csp.enable" setting. I was using this setting to disable CSP to be able to load local JS scripts on some non-locally hosted sites, for debugging and development, work related purposes.

Was this setting really removed? Is there a way to disable CSP on Firefox on the latest version?

I have just seen a clip on Youtube that concerns me. Is Firefox being phased out as a browser? I hope not. I have been using it for years and it is great. Please let me know. Many thanks Anthony

I'm running Firefox 99.0.1 on Ubuntu 22.04. Recently (I think since I updated to Ubuntu 22.04 about a week ago), Firefox has been refusing to show me file upload dialogs. When I click a button that's supposed to give me one, nothing happens.

This has been happening with: - The "attach files" button in Gmail - A file upload button on Gradescope (website for managing homework assignments) - File -> Open File... and Ctrl+O.

Dragging and dropping a file onto an email in Gmail does attach the file -- it's just that the button doesn't work.

I've tried restarting, and I've tried running Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode -- so far nothing has fixed the problem. What else should I do?

I have had a few websites not work properly with Firefox and have needed to open my backup browser (Avast Secure Browser) to use those websites.

Right now it is FedEx that comes to mind again as I kept checking for tracking of packages shipped to me since receiving the tracking info. I queries consistently returned the error message "Unfortunately we are unable to retrieve your tracking results at this time. Please try again later."

Thinking maybe the website was having issues or maintenance (and forgetting I had the same issue with FedEx website the last time I tried tracking there in Firefox), I kept "trying again later".

Then I opened my Avast browser and pasted the same url there and, sure enough, received this report on the display:

I have tried disabling the extension NoScript as well as turning off the "Enhanced tracking protection" and allowing permissions for the FedEx site with no improvement.

I copied and pasted the RAW data as well as the text version from the "about:support" page to send you.

Any suggestions to fix this?

So for starters I am fully aware of the "When you open a link, image or media in a new tab, switch to it immediately" setting, it is turned off.

What I want to do is be able to open new tabs from my bookmarks bar without immediately switching to them. Regardless of middle mouse click or right click and open new tab. Considering the mentioned setting is turned off I would assume that would solve the problem but it hasn't. It has however made it so when I'm browsing or looking through search engine results it doesn't open a new tab right away. But when I have a home/new tab open and am opening tabs from my bookmarks bar, it unfortunately switches to the new tab immediately. I have had this working on a previous install but am stumped as how to replicate.

After a forced update, firefox stopped giving the popup that lets you choose what to do with the file.

A temporary fix is to go into options and set "Always ask you where to save files", however this is clunky, and much much slower, so is there any way to get this popup back?

If not, then i will have to migrate to a different browser for safety, since this new "Feature" can be easily abused by hackers and malicious websites.

So, did what the instruction says and it solved the problem regarding discord.

But, since I changed that setting, firefox doesn't remember my google login or dark skin settings of other websites (it was always automatically logged in when I use YouTube. Not like it remembers the password).

How can I solve it? I resetted firefox multiple times.

Up until today, PDF files would open automatically in Adobe where I could look at the file and print it. Today, Firefox will only allow the file to be downloaded. This causes me grief, an extra step. One of the main reasons I use Firefox is for this feature. Is there a way to change settings so that PDF files will always open in Adobe?

Hello, For no reason I can easily identify, the plus symbol labeled tab to open new tabs from the browser has disappeared. I can still easily use the right click of the mouse or the control t keyboard trick, but I would much prefer the convenience of the ever available and accessible plus tab option. I recently installed a theme that I really like, but the search bar by default is a blinding white color and it contrasts heavily with the dark blue colors in the theme I picked.

Is there a way for me to edit the background color and text color of the search bar to be a different color? I've tried looking at different solutions and most of them make reference to userchrome or something else I have absolutely no idea how to work. Can someone explain to me, in the most simple and hard to get wrong terms as humanly possible, how to change the background and text color in the search bar? Is this something I edit the theme itself for? How do I do that?

When I load Amazon.com, the webpage is a lot of text and random pictures. Amazon's layout is broken. I loaded the same page in Chrome and Safari without a problem. I reinstalled Firefox 99.0.1 without any improvement. Please fix.

The credit card autofill shows all the credit cards but when I click on any of them it does not autofill. Ive used this hundreds of times before and it worked fine. I never changed any settings and the autofill setting is on.

I have tried all of the about:config options to disable the auto-reload of the tabs. I have this working fine on my old machine macbook pro 2015 (same firefox version), but on the macbook pro 2019 i cannot get it to stop. Any help would be great as I need to switch between tabs during meetings and dont want them to keep relaoding

An error occurred during a connection to www.facebook.com. SSL_ERROR_DC_EXPIRED What in the world? does Facebook not keep up with its own security? or is this a Firefox thing?

As per this issue I reported a while back, I was experiencing odd issue with automatic redirect to HTTPS for some private development sites.

I finally found a fix for the issue. The problem appears to be with DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials Extension which apparently *may automatically redirect to the http site. In order to prevent this, I added my development sites to 'Unprotected Sites' and this prevented DuckDuckGo from doing the automatic redirect to https.

• - Odd thing is that I had multiple domains pointing to the same web instance and only one of the domains was having this issue with the DDG extension. Both were going to the same IP through a HTTP proxy. The proxy and web server were not the issue. This symptom points to an maybe an issue in Firefox....

In summary, be wary of odd redirects and the DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials extension if you are doing web development work.

When I click on a "mailto" link, Firefox (my default browser) opens a new tab, then immediately close that tab without waiting for my to interact with it. No draft email is created. I see that other users have reported this behavior in the past, and I've tried the suggested remedies without success. Specifically, I ran Malwarebytes, and it found no threats. I then started Firefox (on the Mac) via the Option key (to start it without ad-ons), and that does not change the behavior. I'm on ver 99.0.1 of FF, which is up to date as of 4/20/2022 (today). My Mac OS is also up to date (ver 12.3.1). My Mac is a 2021 MacBookPro with the Apple M1 Pro chip. I use gmail. OTHER BROWSER (like Safari and Chrome) can open "mailto" links in a new tab in FF (which is my default browser, and used for mailto links) just fine! I recently upgraded graphics cards from an Nvidia GTX 1080 to an AMD 6900XT. Since then I noticed video stuttering on YouTube while playing 4k videos, especially noticeable at 4k/60FPS (example video ). Prior to the upgrade, I was not experiencing issues.

I monitored task manager as the video was playing to see CPU usage, which was sitting at 25% (4 core 8 thread CPU). GPU usage was fluctuating from 1-3%.

I tried resetting all the changed configuration options in about:config, removing all add-ons, "Refreshing" Firefox, and ultimately uninstalling and reinstalling. Nothing has worked so far except for "Troubleshooting mode" in about:support. In that mode, I experience no stuttering and GPU usage rises to 25-35% with the video playing, even before I reinstalled.

This most likely isn't a networking issue as the "Stats for nerds" option on the YouTube video shows I have 10-20s of buffer while the video is still stuttering.

I would like to find out what's different about Troubleshooting Mode that is not giving me the same problem while in "Normal Mode". Any advice?

When I start to type a reply to a Facebook post, the page scrolls down so that the line I am typing disappears one line below the bottom of the screen. I have to scroll down to see what I'm typing. Also, it jumps down the same way whenever I hit the backspace key to edit what I'm typing.

I discovered a previous (archived) post on this forum that suggested using "about.config" and making sure that the value setting for browser.backspace_action is equal to 2. But that didn't change the annoying behavior. Is there any other value I should try? It's not clear what the number means.

Nor did setting browser.backspace to true (or to false) seem to help with the unwanted jumping upon use of the backspace key.

This only seems to happen with Facebook, but it's quite annoying.
