Hello Everyone
I'm having troubles with playing some Youtube-Videos and Twitter Videos. I had to re-install my Windows 10 (64 Bit) due to some hardware-issues which are not related, and I'm having this issue since then. Here are the steps that I already did:
-Removing all Add-Ons -Starting in Safe mode - Deinstalling and reinstalling Firefox, then starting in safe Mode -Deinstalling Firefox with a tool that also deletes all Firefox-Related Registry Keys and App-Data Files and reinstalling it to a different path (other HD) -Disabling add-ons - Disabling Open264 Videocodec and widevine content decryption module (more just because of frustration^^, but I was then able to play some Youtube videos after this one) - mediasource.enabled is active (and all the other ones as well) -Installed addons (even though it didn't work with them disabled as well): NOscript( youtube videos are allowed, some of the are working), Ublock Origin, Video Download Helper, HTTPS Everyhwere, Tree Style Tab, Limit distracting sites - Updating to the newest Firefox-Version (which came out today)
Btw: on https://www.youtube.com/html5/ it tells me that everything works fine and I have of course the newest Firefox-Version installed.
Do you guys may have any other ideas?
Thank you for your help.
Kind regards,
Gabe

Good Morning
Today I had to repair Firefox and after restarting, I felt a strange scrolling sensation, it was not the normal Firefox scrolling, I even thought I had openend the wrong browser...so I went check about:config , and found some values where changed as new default values:
general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel.durationMaxMS 200 general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel.durationMinMS 50
I tought it was me the problem so I installed an older version of Firefox (80.0) in order to compare, and found a normal scrolling and those values:
general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel.durationMaxMS 400 general.smoothScroll.mouseWheel.durationMinMS 200
I think this is a mistake from devs, if i wanted to have horrible scrolling, I could just use Edge instead of Firefox, could you please bring the original scrolling back to Firefox?
Thanks

I am using Hotdocs portal, which is an in-house document assembly tool. Firefox is the recommended browser, but it is recently handling 2016 docx files incorrectly. When we choose a file on the portal site (internal site), we go through the interview and are presented with a link to "download" the assembled file. When you click that link, a pop-up appears showing the file name as abc.docx but then says it is a Word 97 - 2003 document, even though it is not. The original template is not. If I choose to open the file, it ends up opening and showing as abc.docx.doc If I save the file, instead of opening it, it saves as abc.docx.
If we run this same process in IE/Edge, the file opens as abc.docx as it should. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled. Is there anything that could be causing this? I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps and nothing seems to change this outcome.
Thank you.

I use html pages on an internal hard drive that link to pdf documents. For some reason since Version 91.0.2 was installed I can not get the pdf documents to open with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.The new version insist on opening the pdf's in the Firefox web browser. When I click on a pdf link at an external website the files will open in Adobe Acrobat. I used the code below to test the open in Adobe Acrobat execution and it works on the w3School example. When I run it strait from my hard drive the document opens in the Firefox web browser.
<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Title of the document</title> </head> <body> <h1>PDF Example</h1> <p>Open a PDF file <a href="datasheet_cube-model-715.pdf">example</a>.</p> </body> </html>
Please let me know if there is a solution. Thank you,

I can't get spellcheck to work. I'm using Firefox on a Mac. This is true even when using a box with multiple lines.
I have ticked the box in preferences that says Check your spelling as you type. I have a language chosen - English (United Kingdom). I tried installing a different dictionary in Add-ons, but it made no difference.
I've gone into about:config and adjusted the settings in layout.spellcheckDefault and checked services.sync.prefs.sync.layout.spellcheckDefault, which made no difference.
I've read posts that say to right click and look at the dictionaries, but this doesn't work for me (could be because I'm using a Mac). Same with pressing Control.
Any thoughts?

My google maps is unable to access my location even though I have allowed location access from Firefox preferences/settings. The blue target button (Current Location) on Google maps is greyed out, and when I hover over it it says that access is not allowed. Even though when I'm in google maps, the Address bar shows that my location access is allowed, as well as in the Firefox settings. I have refreshed the window multiple times, restarted Firefox, cleared all cookies, and restarted my computer. I've also toggled the enhanced tracking protection in the address bar to off, restarted the browser, still not working. Everything in the settings tells me that access is allowed, yet google maps still tells me that it is denied. Has anyone had this problem, or know of a workaround or how to fix this? Thanks! (Working on Firefox 75. with a MAC)

Plainly speaking, I don't like the new address bar, how it auto completes my searches or the results it pulls. I didn't like it when it was defaulted to being on starting with version 75 but I was able to easily switch a few setting in about:config to fix it. Those settings no longer affect the address bar as of update 77.
The settings I had changed were:
browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus browser.urlbar.update1 browser.urlbar.update1.interventions browser.urlbar.update1.searchTips
which were all set to false. I saw that setting "browser.urlbar.disableExtendForTests" to "true" might be the solution but, while it does stop the address bar from expanding when using it, it also stops it from expanding at all so the websites that would come up from searching can no longer be seen either (they are still called and using the down arrow will let me scroll through the results, I just can't see any of them). It also doesn't fix the results issue which I would say is the most important.
I would like to know what I need to do so that: 1. The results it shows me are no longer based on frequent visit (basically, the pre-update search system, as is they are scattered and look messy, pulling many different sites in a seemingly random order and it's not particularly useful) 2. It no longer autocompletes results (IE. "F" autocompleting to "facebook.com", this is always something that has bothered me regardless is context) 3. It no longer pops out/expands when in use (admittedly this is mostly an aesthetic issue but I still don't like how it looks)

I downloaded and installed the firefox app and nothing happens. No menu. No tabs. The word "firefox" appears in the upper left corner of my screen and a "." appears under the app, indicating that it is open. The screen "blinked" momentarily when I opened the app. I am a longtime user of Firefox and this same thing happened this morning when I opened the app, which I uninstalled, and then downloaded and installed this new app. Same problem.

When I use Firefox on the external monitor, I set the zoom level to 150%. When I leave home a take my laptop with me, I set the zoom level to 100% to use with a smaller screen.
I want to automate setting the zoom level.
Is there a way to programmatically set the zoom level from a script? Does Firefox expose such an API / command-line tool?
Thanks!

The new version of Firefox has removed the drop-down arrow from the address bar, a feature I use several times a day.
Previously, there was a way to restore this by setting a number of "browser.urlbar" options to "False." However, these are currently set at False.
Please advise. Without the drop-down arrow, Firefox is not useful at all.

"question: says it all. I have gone to "Options' and checked all the boxes and still I get only an abbreviated list of sites that I visit or have visited and this does not change with time. I have been using Firefox for years and this has never happened after an upgrade. For instance every time i want to go to my Hotmail account, I have to type in the URL in the address bar where as I used to be able to hit the drop down arrow in the address bar, a menu would drop down and i could click on Hotmail or Bank of America, etc and be taken to the site.

Second attempt = I asked this before, but got no answer. I get a pop-up every day say "Browser extension is missing. Click to install the Browsing protection for Firefox. How can I get rid of the pop-up?

Google has already released new version of CDM. However, the version on Firefox 88.0b7 is still 4.10.1582.2. You can check on the following menu: [Add-ons and Themes]>[Plugin]>[Widevine Content Decryption Module]
My questions are: 1. When is new Widevine CDM coming to Firefox? 1. Can Add-on Manger provide this update to older Firefox?

Hello SUMO Team!
I always had this question but never really asked it. Why isn't DuckDuckGo or a more privacy based Search engine set as default? You even have to manually add Startpage and others... It just hurts me how a privacy browser has the Google search engine as default after all, most people come to Firefox for privacy and Google is the opposite. Maybe one of the developers can change that?
Thank you so much for trying to help me and Stay Safe!
