I have been using Firefox since it first came out and replaced the old Mozilla browser. When Firefox Sync first came out, I used it a few times and it messed up my bookmarks. As a result, I went back to manually syncing my bookmarks by exporting them on my primary computer and then deleting and importing them on my secondary computer. I recently tried Firefox sync again and it messed up my bookmarks again. The result was double the bookmarks and folders. I have a first set of bookmarks and folders that appear the be synced followed by a second set of bookmarks and empty folders. The second set follows the same order as the first set above starting with Bookmarks Toolbar, Other Bookmarks, Recently Bookmarked, Recently Tagged, and then a bunch empty folders. Also in the first set, many of my favicons are missing. What is going on and how can I fix this?

Fresh windows install. I download firefox, I try to login with my account, the only account I have in firefox. I reset the password, cause I had forgotten it. Finally, I login. No bookmarks, no passwords, no data whatsoever. It does not sync. Last time I did a format, I remember crearly, logging into firefox account and instantly everything got synced, like in a minute. What is going on? Why are there no data in my profile? Where is all my bookmarks and passwords? What do I have to do to get my bookmarks and passwords back?

I have never had Sync work on a consistent basis for me. I am trying yet again to start from scratch to make it work right.

I asked for Sync online to email a password reset, and it says that it sent the password reset, but I never recieve the email. I know I am not inputting my email address incorrectly.

I also tried a different email address and Sync correctly rejects the email address as not having a Sync account.

Hi here!! I review a lot of mozilla docs (out dated or without complete info), forums, googling ... about how to share firefox/thunderbird/ligthing data between platforms on dual/multiple boot system. Every user in same trouble are repeating (copy/paste) in the solution to share the SAME FULL PROFILE on all platforms. I review profile data and folders and I can see files and config data that are platform dependent; then I think that share FULL PROFILE between is not the best approach, for example Linux and Windows will produce several problems (and a lot of problems with the add-ons) In these same mozilla docs recommends to share only data and maintain custom profile for each platform, but not more info how to do it. Please can some kind advanced :) provide some info about the correct approach. Or a better tech info about how is possible the recommendation of sharing same profile between platforms without problems. Because with the current doc info, there is no way to get a clear answer (Almost I can't :~). Thx guys!

All this talk of syncing & duplicate bookmarks doesn't explain what happened during the last update of Firefox Quantum (64-bit). I don't have multiple devices, so where are all these bookmarks & empty duplicate folders coming from. There are a bunch of bookmarks outside of the folders they were in AND inside the folders they're in. What the heck happened? Can I go back to the previous version of Firefox? This is a mess, and I really don't have time to read through a gazillion links trying to rectify this issue. I've restored my bookmarks to before this latest update occurred, and it seems to be making things worse. Mozilla needs to post BIG FAT FLAGS when they make a major change to this browser. I would've never let this update install, had I known what it was going to do.

Because I embed folders inside of folders, all the loose ones used to belong inside of folders, and some didn't. Now, I have tons of them where I can't find which folder they were in, because they were embedded. This is really bad, whatever Firefox has done.

Again, 1 computer, 1 device ... WHAT IS IT DOING or syncing to? I'm not using some Add-on to fix this, because an Add-on didn't break it; the last update did! I do have Add-ons, but unless this version is incompatible with them, I have no clue. None of them are bookmark Add-ons anyway. I shan't Share Data this time, because I really don't want people poking around & pointing fingers at my Add-ons. I'd rather be shown how to go back to the previous version, than keep messing around with incompatibilities when Firefox keeps changing. Developers can't keep up with all these updates that come through every other month (it seems). Please and thank you.

I am trying to sync my Windows Firefox to my mobile phone Firefox. I have set up sync on the mobile. But I can't enter my mobile phone number on the Windows Firefox. I get "invalid phone number" whenever I enter my UK mobile number. I have tried it with the leading zero. I have tried it with +44 followed by the number without the zero. I have tried it with 044 followed by the number without the zero. I have tried it with 0044 followed by the number without the zero. I have run out of ideas. Can anyone help?

Puzzled why there are no review pages for Firefox Sync. Almost no documentation, either.

XMarks is closing. Eversync is unreliable. So the only sync in town for Firefox users is Firefox Sync.

That makes it a shame that Mozilla doesn't have a review page, where users can rate Firefox Sync and talk over their experiences. It would greatly reassure potential users.

Also, Firefox Sync is under-documented. Does it have, like XMarks, a facility by which users can access their bookmarks when they cannot access their local browsers, e.g. when travelling? No way of knowing, without trying it! Does it sync Folders and the arrangement of links within folders accurately? No way of knowing, without trying it! Does it allow uploads to the server, downloads from the server? No way of knowing, without trying it!

Come on Firefox, a few pages of documentation, please!

strange behavior with Firefox bookmarks that don't get properly saved

I'm using FF63.0.3 and a Mac with OS 10.11.6. Firefox works generically well EXCEPT sometimes when I try to save bookmarks, all hell breaks loose. I save them, they LOOK like they're saved, and I try to sync. The sync goes off in never-never land, and never finishes. Aaargh, I say, and I restart Firefox, whereby my new bookmarks are GONE! No memory of them. No record of being at them in my History. Now I should say that when I kill Firefox in this circumstance, I get an "Application not responding" error, so clearly something has already been hosed.

I should say that this happens occasionally. Not always. But it's pretty exasperating when it does, trying to recover those lost bookmarks. Normally, when I sync, it just takes a few seconds, and everything is keen.

Insights abut why, or how to prevent this? This has been going on for months, surviving re-downloading Firefox, and reboots.

where is the recovery key for the final step in the sync setup?

I have account from a previous attempt. On device one, I go to set up sync. I answer I have an account [attempt to reset the account resulted in "email address already in use" error]. Device 1 shows three pair a device codes.

Device 2: I go to the Firefox home page. I choose sync at the bottom, and enter the three codes on device number 2. I then answer that I have an account, enter my user name and password, and am asked for a recovery key which is to be found under sync options on device one. It is not: all I have are the options for what data is to be migrated [and I checked all].

How do I complete the sync procedure?
