The owner of www.facebook.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox may only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.

www.facebook.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

P.S i have avg security system

I have a clean basic install of Windows 7 64 bit Pro. It is completely up to date. New install of Firefox 49.

When going to Netflix I get the message

"Firefox is installing components needed to play audio or video..."

but never completes. If I try to run a netflix video my pc crashes, won't reboot until I do a power off.

The desired videos play on Netflix in IE fine.

I have NO antivirus running, FF is set to auto update.

Any ideas ?

I have a PC running Windows 10. Use Blackboard to get to college class materials online and to connect to online textbooks and ALEKS (McGraw Hill). Have latest Firefox loaded and need to make certain that my system will allow me to see/use ActiveX controls.

Tried looking it up on your forum, but I could not understand what/how/where to make all of this happen.

Downloaded ff-activex-host-master.zip from Github and need to know what next to do.

Hello.

I keep getting this message:

Content Encoding Error

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

I will then press reload a few times and Facebook or the videos work. Some videos on Facebook won't start or work after a certain period of time.

I have Flash player updated as of yesterday. I don't know if I have to do anything else with Java and the other unsupported stuff. I don't know if I have to install any add-ons with Firefox?

I have recently installed some add-ons to have more safe and secure browsing. Do I need to list them?

Thank you.

The other day due to the huge amount of CPU my Firefox was using I removed the software from my computer and tried to update to the latest 5.0 version. After the new installation I noticed that instead of a plugin container, there were two instances of Firefox running in task manager. After some research I thought that the issue was malware so I took the usual precautions (got antimalware software and did a complete system check only to find nothing) and eventually ended up resetting my computer. My computer is now factory reset, but when I again downloaded Firefox this instance occurred again. The two instances seem to be linked. I cannot close out of one without Firefox shutting down. The download didn't seem to work correctly as Firefox never launched upon full download and I was forced to restart my computer to get it to work at all. This does NOT occur when I use internet explorer as it shows a plugin container working with the process.

This second instance of Firefox is eating my CPU like the plugin container used to. I DO have antimalware software as well as an antivirus and neither are detecting issues on my computer. What can I do to fix this problem? I was considering reinstalling Firefox again but since it didn't download properly either time, I was wondering if there was a link to a version other than 5.0 out there that is more functional.

Hi, I have an older version of Firefox on an older laptop. The Firefox is version 3. something (like I said old) and the laptop is windows vista home basic (again old). I want to know if there's a way to get the history and the restore session from the old one to the one I'm currently using (the most recent version on windows 7). The old one doesn't have the hardware to be able to update and add sync. So is there another way i can get the history and session from the older one to the new one? Everything I've looked at is about sync or about more recent versions or updating which isn't possible. Any ideas? Thanks in advance from the people who respond.

Updating Vulnerable Plugin More Difficult in Firefox 50.0

Under Tools/Add-Ons there have always been several "tabs" including: Extensions (e.g., NoScript), where there is still the settings pull-down to get to "Check for Updates," and Plugins (e.g., Shockwave (actually Adobe for several years now!) Flash), where there used to be a different button to check for updates but it is now apparently the same mechanism.

After I learned of the Firefox update from 49.0.2 to 50.0, I went through the following steps: 1) Changed to my Administrator account (I normally run as a "Standard User" for added security) to install the update and then 2) Checked for updated Plugins (since they are also installed by executable files that will not run under a Standard User) using the new mechanism. This account, however, DID NOT REPORT SHOCKWAVE OUT OF DATE! 3) Only when I went back to my Standard User account to check for updated Extensions did I learn of the latest Shockwave vulnerabilities, but of course I could not install the update there. 4) Not only that, but you have made the process of getting the update more obscure, requiring additional mouse clicks go get to your "plugin check page." My ad-hoc work around was 5) Download the updater in that account, 6) Copy it out of the Downloads directory, 7) Close Firefox, 8) Logoff, 9) Logon to my Administrator account, and 10) Install the update there.

I think you will have to admit that this mechanism is cumbersome at best. Am I missing something, or is this a new bug in vs. 50.0?
