Yahoo intruded and functions as default search, even though Google has been and is still designated as default in the settings. I removed Yahoo from the list of 1-click browsers, but that didn't affect its unwanted function as default search. This began out of the blue several days ago, and I have no idea how. I dislike Yahoo in general and have not been on that site. I'm getting really frustrated!

I use Send Tab to Device all the time. To my phone, my tablet, my work & home laptops. Except recently, the tab I send won't show up on my phone. Notifications are enabled. I can send from my phone to my work laptop. I can send from my work to home laptop. But to the phone, it says sent, and nothing ever arrives. Everything is synced. What else can I do?

each time we try opening mozilla firefox an error message splashes stating profile may be missing or inaccessible.solutions already tried 1)deleted profile.ini file 2)created new profile through firefox.exe -p.. 3)tried uninstalling firefox and reinstalling upgraded version e.g ver 56,65,80 after installation of firefox 80 new error msg comes stating an instance of mozilla firefox is already running it needs to be closed first. 4)even tried to use portable mozilla version 51 . any other solution or advice ?

I run a blog on WordPress and while editing a blog post I tried to "justify" the paragraph but it did not work. I previously used chrome in which it worked, but in Firefox it seems that its is not working.

Issue #1 I have the automatic updates turned off, but Firefox occasionally updates anyway. How can I prevent this from happening?

Issue#2 This is somewhat related to issue #1. I turned off the automatic updates specifically because I did not want Quantum, but Firefox updated automatically, despite the automatic updates being turned off.. I have an older system, and it cannot handle running five processes for Firefox at one time. As a result, my system becomes increasingly slower as time goes by. As running multiple serves absolutely no discernible purpose, is there any way to prevent Firefox from running multiple processes?

Issue #3 Firefox recently updated automatically (again) without my permission, and since the most recent update, the pop up blocker is not working properly, specifically with Yahoo. It is blocking images, and windows that I bring up, but is not blocking what it is supposed to block, and will not let me add an exception for Yahoo. How can I fix this?

I am a Computer Science major, and have been using Firefox since it came out, but I am going to make a change if I can't fix these issues. Firefox is becoming more of a hassle than it is worth.

hey I used Firefox in my previous Windows, and even though the sync section of my account was active, I can not recover the data now. Is there a way to solve this problem?

When it comes to add-ons, then I add three of four at once or the same purpose, I try them all out, decide if I want to keep any of them, and then remove the ones I see that do not serve my target. All normal.

I know that it requires permission in order to have an add-on show in Private Browsing, that's done.

Now I had 8 add-ons on the toolbar, I disabled two or three of them so I can try two new ones. I did not like the new ones, so I just enabled the ones I had disabled, which where previously showing in the toolbar, all of this in Private Browsing having the permission of showing them.

As I enabled the add-ons again, they are not showing anymore in the toolbar..!!

Okay, I removed them and re-added them..not showing. I also did: not allow in Private Mode, then re-allowed..not showing. I simply restarted the browser in both normal and Private Mode, and yet not showing.. I also restarted my pc, and retried all previous steps again

• This mainly happened as I removed the extension from toolbar, then added it again.

Still also 90% of the time, just disable then enable again, and only a few are showing again. Either when disabled then re-enabled or when removed then re-added*

So, what to do ?

Is there a way to permanently disable checking for updates? I don't want to update (and I don't care what people think about that), but every 5 minutes an update notification pops up that needs to be closed, and it is getting really annoying. Again i don't want to update and there is no option to disable checking for updates, only to automatically update whenever firefox wants to ruin my day or to bother me until I allow them to ruin it.

I am a user of the http://loza.nazwa.pl/zakonacporady/forum/ forum, based on the my little forum (https://mylittleforum.net/) script.

In the last days, after one of the most recent Firefox updates, the forum users observed a strange page refresh behaviour: when a user posts a new message, posts a change to a message or resets the unread messages by using a button on the webpage - she/he gets the outdated view of the forum. Without her/his changes.

She/he must explicitely reload the forum page (Ctrl+R) to get the new content.

Is this a result of some newly introduced pageloading optimisations? If so, is it possible to switch the optimisations off by a Firefox settings (globally or just for the webpage)?

This is a little hard to describe, but pressing sideways on the wheel on my thinkpad mouse changes what is displayed on the screen. It appears to go back and forth through the history list, depending on whether the wheel is pushed to the right or left. Not talking about rolling / scrolling with the wheel, but pushing sideways on it.

How can I stop this?

mousewheel.default.action is currently = 1 mousewheel.with_shift.action = 4

Not sure what these settings do, but somebody suggested them.

I want to disable the annoying update notification popup that firefox keep throwing in my face. I have searched the web and the forum and it seems like every version of firefox has a different method for doing this.

I am presently using version 80.0.1

Does anybody know a way to stop these popups in this version?

I know that this forum is run by volunteers - but a message for the developers: LEAVE IT ALONE You had a nice little browser until you tried to make it the answer to a maiden's prayer for everyone. Now you have a buggy, annoying piece of bloatware that is just pssing people off. Nice work bucko.

This site https://app.wire.com/auth/ is not working properly after update to firefox 80. I see login screen, press arrow to login then server sync starts and stops after a second and I am back at login screen. Worked fine in firefox 79 this morning.

Once upon a time when trying to create a blank tab, I accidentally typed "about:blank/" and this command doesn't work if the backslash is there.

Now anytime I want to create a blank tab and I type "about:blank" it automatically includes the backslash.

Because this phrase/command doesn't show up in my search history, even after clearing all of my data, Firefox keeps "helpfully" popping that backslash into the field whenever I start to type the command.

How can I make Firefox forget I ever made this stupid typo?! (Would clearing "Site Preferences" and/or "Offline Web Site Data" work? I admit I haven't cleared those two things.)

Valued community members: Not looking for a fix or work around solution here. My goal is to better understand why this occurs. Each time I (frequently) update to the latest version of Firefox, I Iose extensions (in this case new tab - cursor to search bar). I know that users can go in and correct this, but I would prefer that settings, extension, addons, etc, be preserved. My question is, is that really challenging of a code writing task? I know next to nothing about programing, but based on my experience using other apps, I would think preservation would be a piece of cake. Can a Code Joe comment in terms I might understand?

Some years ago I set up an own firefox sync serven on a Rasperry Pi. Yesterday Firefox updated to Version 80 and now i can't sync anymore. There is a message "Connect with your account (again)" or similar - german version)) but after connecting (enter mailadress and password) the same message pops up again. And i am unable to sync :((( Any ideas how to fix this problem? I really want my own sync server instead of cloud services. "My data belongs to me" - you know.

I have been experiencing a critical issue with FF for more than a year now and even though I reported it via the FF crash reporter numerous times it never got fixed so I figured I would report it here.

The issue could be summarized as follow: browsing the website mixcloud.com triggers a memory leak from FF that eventually causes my whole computer to shut down if FF cannot be "force[d] to quit" in time.

Here is a more detailed description I sent to Mixcloud support last year:

"Often times when I open a new page/tab on the website the loading freezes and after a few seconds a yellow warning notification pops up on the upper part of the screen asking: "a web page is slowing down your browser. What would like to do?” with the two following options available: "Stop it" or "Wait". If I click "stop it" the loading will indeed stop and I just have to refresh the page again to continue browsing normally. The troubles begin if I click "wait" or do nothing: the overall memory usage of Firefox will then increase seemingly exponentially and after only a few minutes the whole system will become unresponsive and I will have to hard reboot my computer or it will reboot by itself. This is extremely annoying as you can imagine as every time that happens I lose all unsaved data in the process! Strangely enough this issue sometimes even occur without any notification displayed or freeze happening in the first place: I would be browsing a few Mixcloud pages then switching to another website and after a couple of minutes I would notice that the memory usage is increasing although no Mixcloud page is open any longer... In both cases the only solution I found is to quit/force to quit Firefox as soon as possible to prevent it (and the system) to become unresponsive. Closing the application always resolves the issue and I can see the memory usage of the overall system subsequently dropping sometimes from up to 95% to 40% in the Activity Monitor app. Again I would like to stress that I have been experiencing this issue ONLY on Mixcloud and that I have no other memory related issue on my computer nor with Firefox in general."

Mixcloud support reply at the time: "this is linked to some issues we've been experiencing but our team are busy working on a fix for". 10 months later nothing changed...

The same issue happened again this very morning: I opened a Mixcloud link from google results and even though I immediately closed it, 5 minutes later the RAM usage was at 93% and I struggled during 10 minutes to "force to quit" FF as the whole computer was becoming increasingly unresponsive. I can provide a crash report from this morning but would prefer not to display it publicly.

Please investigate this leak. It is becoming more and more frustrating to deal with as the time goes by.

In last couple of the most recent versions of both Firefox and Firefox Enterprise, Access files with ACCDB extensions will not open from a link on an html page. Basically, it will show an error in firefox. It can be saved to the local desktop if we set the option to do so, but we would like to be able to open it only. The file is on a network. We've also tried opening the file in several other browsers (chrome, edge, etc.) and get the same results in all of them except IE. That remains the only browser we can open an Access file in with a link. Microsoft Word and Excel files appear to still be opening fine.

Hello, I have a problem with YouTube from my PC. I was already signed in my account and suddenly today I cant's see anywhere the option "Switch accounts" and "sing out" when I click on my picture up on the right edge. Also, even though I am singed in and I can see my picture on up on the right edge, at the same time I see on the left, the icon to sign in (it is under history) and I don't see my playlists. However if I click on "Library" (above history) on the new page I see my playlists. If I click on the sign in on the left side (under history) it shows me it shows me again to sign in (even though I had signed in before and I could see my picture on the top of the right corner), I click on my icon and I read: 405. That’s an error. The request method GET is inappropriate for the URL /youtubei/v1/guide. That’s all we know.

It seems like I am signed in, but at the same time not signed in. It's very strange and it has never happened to me. Firefox is updated. On my mobile I don't have any problem. I used Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge and I don't have any problem. Everything is OK there. Only with Firefox on PC I have this problem. I cleared the Cache and Cookies and restarted it, but the problem remains. I also turned off all my add-ons and it didn't fix the problem. What to do? Please, I need your help.

Hello. I am having the same issue as another user, but they flagged their question as solved so I'm making a new one just in case.

I can't login properly to YouTube, only in Firefox, even after clearing cache and cookies and disabling add-ons/running safe mode. I can login to my Google account, view my playlists and recommended videos (although the main page with recommendations only shows 5 lines of videos and when scrolling further is not loading). I can't make any edits, for example add videos to the "Watch Later" playlist, that require a login. When I click login, Google shows the 405 error "The request method GET is inappropriate for the URL /youtubei/v1/browse/edit_playlist. That’s all we know." or with other URL, depending on the action taken.

What can I do? Thank you.
