I have dealt with this for years. I have "reset" Firefox numerous times, I have uninstalled Adobe Flash and reinstalled version 16.0.0.235. After I uninstalled and updated it ran for a while but I am back to the "Flash is busy" message. The only way I can go on is to stop the plug in, or disable it, but of course then I have no video. I installed "Videowithoutflash" (I think that was the name of it listed with Firefox extension and highly reviewed, and it all ran fine for about a day. But then the next day no videos would play unless I enabled flash, and then it soon starts crashing again. This is a problem for years now. I have been through many forums trying to find an answer, nothing works, or if it does not for long. Is there not some way to get rid of Adobe Flash and play videos? Are there any browsers that don't use flash for viewing videos? Help! Thanks in advance Bill

Hi, While I was browsing through a website I commonly use, an error popped up telling me I had to update or get a flash player to play a song. This was not normal due to the fact I updated Adobe Flash less than a week ago to the latest version from their official website, because of the same problem. I proceeded to the Adobe Flash website and, because I was unable to find any other solution, installed the player again, guessing there was a newer version.

Meanwhile, before installing the "newer" version, I tried the same link on the other browsers I had -- Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. Surprisingly, it worked. However, I prefer firefox so I am still trying to solve this problem.

The installer told me to close firefox, so I did. After what seemed like a successful installation, I opened Firefox again and re-tried the link, as well as a few others. The same message popped up, and it was NOT an ad - I am perfectly capable of recognizing a website message from an ad. I then went on another website, and the following message popped up: "Adobe Flash Player is out of date. Please update. Current version: 0.0.0"

Surprised from all of this, I proceeded to check my Flash Player. I did so on multiple websites, and they all gave the same answers - that my flash player is missing. That is quite strange, taking the fact I updated it a week ago, and 15 minutes before checking it. What I have also noticed, is that I am still capable of opening youtube videos and listening to some songs. That is about all I am currently capable of doing.

I don't want to change my browser, since I've used Firefox for a long time and prefer it in front of other browsers. Please help me leave it that way. I've never had this happen to me. Thanks in advance. ~ Trif

In case needed, the website I was listening songs from was SoundCloud. www.soundcloud.com

Hey, ive read some other threads but didnt notice anything that solves the problem. So yeah, recently, like 3 days ago or so, youtube videos started randomly not loading. I mostly use youtube to play music, got my own playlist, but now the songs try to load for like 10 seconds or so and then skip to other song. Tried playing a song not as a part of playlist, but a separate video. Tried to load, but eventually got error. On read more there were few suggestions, ive tried them all, nothing changed. Deleted cookies and cache. Tried playing firefox in safemode, then youtube videos work fine. btw, i guess i should mention, that i use adblock plus so that i could play the playlist and not get those 10 minute ads between every song. if i manually disable adblock, nothing changes mostly. Though 1 time the video started with an ad before the song but only once. if anyone could help me i would appreciate it. If u need any more info ask away :) (so far it seems like only videos from my playlist fail to load)

hey guys, i wasnt sure where i could put this info, i have discovered some info regarding the "FLASH PLAYER PLUGIN." that doesnt seem to be documented on any kb article or support thread, so hopefully one of you will be able to help getting this submitted. obviously this wont fix everyone's problem, but it should be included.

THE PROBLEM::

Flash Player Hanging or Crashing (unable to watch flash/video content) Script has become unresponsive error message when trying to view flash/video content

THE SOLUTION:

a possible cause to this problem is that you have lost permissions to the file directory where flash is actually stored. without these permissions you will be unable to properly utilize the flash plugin on firefox.

to fix the problem we will need to update the security settings on the flash directory.

for 32 bit machines: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash

for 64 bit machines: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

navigate to the \Macromed\ folder and right click on the flash folder and select properties. click on the security tab at the top of this box then on the advanced button at the bottom of this box. after navigating to this screen, you will need to click change permissions. first make sure there is no deny statement which is denying access to this folder, if one exists, remove it. second make sure that the name "Everyone" has the abilty to read and execute, to do this: click on everyone, then edit. next, select: apply any changes to: "This folder, subfolders, and files." this is at the top of the edit box. after you click ok to the changes you made, you will need to enable the option: "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object." now click the apply button, then ok button. now check to see if firefox is working.

if you find that you are unable to change these permissions, then you lost access to the parent folders as well and they are replacing child object permissions. you will need to apply the solution above to the parent folder that is overriding the permissions. this will either be: \system32\ or \SysWOW64\ depending on your machine or possibly even the \Windows\ folder.

If you find that these parent folders indeed had their permissions lost, then you have likely acquired some malware. You should download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and do an update and full scan.

There is an outdated page on the Adobe Flash web site being blocked by Firefox 35.0.1 on Windows 7. Version 16..0.0.235 of Flash is labeled a security risk, "Always activate" is greyed out. I was on the Plugins page, and there I clicked the update now linktext. I was advised that all older versions of Flash in the version 11 range are blocked. Nowhere to go from there. (My screenshot has a piece off the Plugins page above the resulting page when I clicked on the indicated link.)

The outdated page being blocked was allowed and I was able to run through the download procedure, but in the end I had an error. I repeatedly tried downloading install_flashplayer16x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe, which downloads OK, and when I run it it downloads and installs Adobe Flash, then says Finish and "There was an error."

Glary Utilities software updater updated Internet Explorer's Flash, said nothing of Firefox, now I know why. This is a mess.

I opened up firefox -p and went to the new blank profile I had created sometime back. It was happily running a fully-enabled version 11 of Flash (I bet that wouldn't last long as my browser bites me in the butt and disables it).

Firefox -p and I created a new profile today. It has this crippled version 16.0.0.235 of Flash.

It appears that Mozilla has an outdated page telling me that all old versions in the range of version 11 are blocked. No word there about the more recent versions.

From what else I've read, others are turning to other browsers and coming up with a bad Flash, too. I only have Firefox (well, Internet Exploder, which I discounted as a piece of rubbish ever since they came out with IE 7).

Any advice? Thank you.

I can go into chrome without any issues and watch any video without any problem. the second i get into firefox nothing works. i have had this issue on and off for years. i really do not see why you cannot fix this if everybody else can. i have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and flash player multiple times. nothing seems to work. I am truly getting really tired of this same problem year after year, i stay with firefox because you are privacy conscience and are being more so consistently. i do not know what other details to tell you other than this just keeps happening and it is making it very tough to do anything on firefox when i cannot use a simple thing such as flash player. as i said, if the other browsers can fix this i see no reason why firefox cannot year after year. i hope there is a simple fix for this problem because it has basically halted a lot of my work on the net as i will no longer use google or microsoft. thank you

I use win 8.1, ff 35.0.1, Shock wave flash 16.00.305. This problem has started in last week or two. On one occasion, I did get a 'adobe flash has crashed'. I did not write down the message. It has not happened that way again.

When I try to open videos, mainly YouTube, I get to page at YouTube, click on thumbnail, seeking to watch video; The page looks like it is coming up, but while square where video should be is not there.
Not actually 'greyed out' , but no pictures either.

I have searched and updated flash, updated video card drivers,, set up new ff profile. These were all suggested in my search. no go. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanking you in advance. I will check for info tomorrow evening after school.

Finally Flash started working .............partly.

Using Windows 8.1 Firefox 36.0.4

I say "Partly" because the Pages I use I have to refresh the page 3-7 before it catches and Flash decides to work.

So I did some working to see what and had my Windows Task Manager up and wondering why processes shuffled around when I reloaded page where flash crashed and failed to load as soon as page came up.

So i Noticed in the Task manager too a Windows Problem Reporting popped up when Flash Crashed (didn't load) So I said there must be a file of why it crashed. So I went to Start>Computer (Right Clicked) Manage > Opened Computer Management on left side clicked Event Viewer

I hope these screen captures can help to see why Flash is crashing.

I also made a Dump file plug-in container of and it is pretty Big 203,170 MB after i got flash to work by refreshing the page several times.

Hey all,

Thanks in advance for any comments.

I've been working on a client's computer and I'm receiving frequent crashes. Previously the logs indicated the same error but pointed in the metadata to an outdated plugin. I've removed the plugin and the crashes still occur ( at least once per day).

In the logs that bit that concerns me is that Sophos may be the culprit and may be hampering or preventing some Flash interaction from working properly.

Logs: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/4e75c9e8-a7d9-4dd5-9618-7f62a2150407 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/0aeaa8cc-e028-45a2-b928-a816d2150407 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/22697c7f-d2a6-4049-b02f-422b62150406

The following actions have been recommended in various kb articles and I have taken them without seeing resolution: -Updated Firefox -Uninstalled and Reinstalled latest version of Flash -Disabled Hardware Acceleration for Flash -Disabled Hardware acceleration for Firefox -Removed previous plugin (LogMeIn).

Greatly appreciated

Does anyone else have their Flash Plug-in NOT auto-update? I've been watching the last few Flash Updates from Adobe for a while and for me, they do not Auto-Update. I had to manually install version 32.0.0.171. I've manually installed the Adobe Shockwave Flash for years, but only recently waited to see if it would Auto-Update.

I noticed with the two other Plug-ins, they have Update buttons for Default / On / Off. The Flash Plug-in does not have these buttons. Is this why it does not / will not Auto-Update?

Anyway, I received an eMail today about the Latest Flash Update:
