Windows 10, Firefox 66.0.1 crashes and does not shut down when closed, with these 2 error messages: 1) Mozilla Crash Reporter (all boxes are checked)
When browser is reopened another error message appears: 2) Close Firefox: Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window.
This appears even after a long delay before restarting Firefox. I have gone through the suggested list of fixes, with no effect.

For the last week Task Manager is showing Firefox using lots of CPU, causing fans to come on in laptop, at the same time 'FLOW' is showing about the same high usage. I never installed Flow. When I 'end task' on Flow Firefox reverts to normal. But Flow reappears on it's own. If I remove Conexant Flow, it comes back again. Can anyone help? It also worries me why Flow should be using so much CPU, when (apparently) it is only a driver?

Hello! (FF 65.0.1) I recently tried to access the preferences page but I get an error of "Unresponsive Script" on "resource://gre/modules/Localization.jsm:444"
Starting in Safe Mode solved the issue so I opened FF again and disabled all extensions but not luck. So I tried disabling Hebrew (using Hebrew on my FF) on the languages tab and it solved the issue.
What can I do to keep using Hebrew and to be able to access the preferences?

I cant do anything in the interface which goes glitchy after a while, forcing me to shut it from task bar and restart. It took me a while to understand the problem was with the youtube video. If i dont open that link, everything works normal. Also, Earlier (till yesterday) i was watching that video without any such problem.
I tried updating and reinstalling firefox completely but still facing the same issue with this particular video. I cant figure out whats the problem !

I have an issue with firefox when I try to download files (ex: pdf, etc...) When I click on the link, I have the popup that appear to display if I want to open or store my file in the folder. And it's the moment that Firefox freeze (I try to select radio button answer for example and I have to wait 1 min for example before I can do it)
I have tried to start from a fresh profile.
I have the latest version 64.0 of my browser (on Linux Mint)
Do you have any idea of how I can fix the issue ?

Sometime in the past 3 months, when I use Replay Poker's site almost every time, or occasionally when I use Angry Birds Friends on Facebook in Mozilla (both use flash), and leave a poker table or the ABF game, it freezes my Mozilla browser. When using Replay's site this happens 8-10 times out of 10. With ABF, it happens 1 out of every 5-6 times I use it. I am unable to click on or in the browser window, and cannot close the browser with the x at the upper right of the window. The only thing that works at that point is to hold my mouse over my Mozilla icon in the taskbar, and when the small window icons pop up, I can close them using the x on the small icon. What seems to reset the browser is if I have two or more tabs open, and click the upper-right x while mouse hovering over the taskbar icon, getting the "close multiple tabs?" warning. If I click no, then the browser usually seems to reset and start operating normally again. Though, sometimes that still does not allow me to open a new flash window, so I have to completely close Mozilla and restart it again. I have noted a couple other mentions of this problem, but have yet to find a solution that works.
My graphic card drivers are updated. I am using the most updated version of Flash as well.

Since the last couple of days, I see that Firefox holds a lock for places.db for the whole time while Firefox is open. The problem manifests itself when I use alfred workflow to do a search for a firefox bookmark by a keyword. I see that the workflow written in Python crashes with
`sqlite3.OperationalError: database is locked`
When I close Firefox, the script is working fine. When I open it again - the script is not operational again. Tried safe mode - the same result.
This was working fine for years and the symptom points that it was changed recently and now Firefox holds a lock during the whole time it is open. I guess previously the database lock was acquired per bookmark write transaction.
FF 63.0 macOS
Is it a known issue? Why was this change made?

I have already tried: - Put new Firefox portable - the same issue - Close other tabs - Disable EMET for Firefox - Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser set to True - Security.sandbox.content.level set to 2 - Disable add-ons plugins and start in safe mode

And also I want to say that this problem does not exist in other browsers. The problem manifests itself in this case: If you open the site of the dns-shop.ru or technopoint.ru store and, without waiting for the page to fully load, click on any item on the page, for example, on the left, select the directory partition, then the whole browser hangs. In this case, the browser stops responding to any pressing in the interface and generally does not react to anything, except for the completion of the process in the task manager. That is, I open the task manager and find there a process of firefox that uses almost all the resources of the CPU. After that, I end the process and firefox starts to work and writes that the "tab has dropped" (image # 3) I noticed the same problem on other sites, in particular youtube, vk, fb. Also, with fast transitions between site pages or streaming video, the browser may hang and the CPU load immediately 90-100%. Hi, as topic suggest I?m having BSOD crashes recently. They occur almost every time I'm opening a new tab on new firefox quantum (57.0). Other than that recently I've added new Monitor (Dell U2417HJ) to my setup. I've done driver check/updating using Driver Easy, but BSOD still occurs. Next, I installed BlueScreenView to scan the *.dmp file. It shows that last crash was caused by tcpip.sys driver. I was having Firefox (slow) performance issues and decided to re-install. After re-installation, firefox would not start (could see the process firing but closing immeadiatey, the app didnt even open). Upon advice received here (, installed an earlier version (54) of firefox which started. Then I did all the updates to recent versions and it kept working. Only then I realized I had just installed the 32-bit version. As I try to use the same procedure to install the 64-bit version, I am back to the same problem (firefox not starting). Now I found that I can get firefox to start by renaming the firefox.exe to something else (e.g. firefox1.exe). It does start but it seems the intial performance problems persist. Additionally, it keeps asking me if I want to make Firefox my default browser. I keep answering yes to no effect as every time I start firefox it asks me the same thing. If I try to make Firefox my default browser through windows settings (or control panel) firefox is not listed by windows as an installed application. In short, I cannot get the 64-bit installation being recognized by windows (windows 10 home) and without renaming the exe file. In addition It seems to perform poorly.
I have also checked for malware, nothing detected.

since the update to FF 53.0 (and now also with 53.0.2) I've had it freeze on me 5 times and every time it also completely locked up my PC - mouse was frozen, Ctrl+Alt+Del didn't work, gave it 10 minutes but was still frozen afterwards - and I had to shut my PC down forcefully.
My system: FF 53.0.2 (32 bit) Win 7 (64 bit) 16gb RAM FF Addons: NoScript & AdBlock Plus
No changes in terms of add ons, no Windows updates or new programs that could have caused this. The only programs running in the background are/were my anti-virus/anti-malware programs, Skype, Outlook, Rainmeter and my mouse driver (all of which I've used for at least the last 6 months). The first two times it happened when I tried to restore tabs from the "oops, that shouldn't have happened" page and the last 3 times when I opened a new tab (with 1-2 other tabs open at max, usually only an empty one!). The 3rd time was 2 weeks ago, the 4th time on May 9th when I opened a new tab after clicking on one of my tiles on the "new tab" page (no other tabs were open at the same time!). Today it happened again! I installed a bunch of Windows updates a couple of days ago and this time I had Minecraft loading up and was watching a movie (DVD) in VLC (no Outlook running this time) but when I opened a second tab in FF, the picture froze again. The weird part is that the sound of the movie kept playing but it didn't let me move the mouse or open the Task Manager. I've never had a video run at the time of the freeze, so I don't know if Windows would have still kept playing the sound the other times.
I can play really hardware-intensive games that use 50+% of my cpu (not that there are a lot that do) and a lot of my gpu's power/VRAM and/or RAM (sometimes goes as high as overall 13gb/16gb) but I've never had any freezes just with games + watching a video at the same time, it always happens while opening a website through one of the tiles or a new tab directly in FF 53.x!

This has only started over the last couple days. I've checked to make sure that I'm running the most recent version of Firefox, cleared my cache and cookies, and even reset the browser to default settings, but each time I receive a new message through Google Hangouts (the built-in interface in Gmail) popup message appears telling me the Firefox has stopped and that I need to close the program. When I select "Close Program," the Gmail tab goes down, but everything else stays that same, and I have the option to "Restore Tab." This happens multiple times a day.
Troubleshooting steps attempted: - Updating Firefox - Clear cache and cookies - Reset browser - Clear temp files - Restart computer - Fully close and restart browser
Is there something else I can try?
