I'm having trouble opening urls in a private window from the command line on Windows 11.

Firefox version: 144.0.2

Starting a new private window works fine with "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -private-window

But doing: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -private-window "https://www.google.com"

just opens the link in the last selected window if the last window selected is non private it just opens the link there instead of a new or existing private window

I have also tried with no success: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -private "https://www.google.com"

I changed my password.......still not letting me in....so I changed emails....I'm confused.....I want to know did my new pc accept my change of passwords from my older computer?

EVERY TIME Firefox updates or the computer shuts down, it loses my bookmarks. I check the box next to Bookmarks in Sync, and the second I hit "sync now" the checked box disappears and the bookmarks do not sync. Friggin annoying. I'm not a programmer so I'm hoping for a user-friendly solution. Thanks!

I have recently encountered reproducible failures when attempting to download files or save pages to local storage. The target directory is located on a mounted NTFS file system with the options umask=007, user=root, and group=disk. My Firefox browser is running under a non-root user account that is a member of the disk group. However, I consistently receive the error message: “XXX could not be saved because the source file could not be read.”

I would greatly appreciate anyone's assistance in resolving this issue.

Reader view doesn't work on many Lifehacker pages/articles. Can something be done to make it work on those pages? Here's an example:

On all three computers, I have "Always ask you where to save files." On all three computers, it never asks and always stores in Download.

On my work computer, Outlook's problem is that all hyperlinks open in browsers while we use Sharepoint links. I want the pdfs to open in Acrobat. I've changed the Applications section, just below Downloads, to use Acrobat for pdf files. I was hoping that would mean Outlook would tell Firefox, my default browser, to open the pdf, FF would see it's a pdf, and it would open Acrobat. That's not happening.

Any clues how to resolve either?

I'm using the AI Chatbots plugin in the sidebar and I'm trying to log into Claude, but the plugin keeps asking for a verification code and Anthropic only sends a magic link email which doesn't work in this situation.

I believe I had all this synced in Firefox Settings before I made the upgrade. Like all you fellow former users of Windows 10, I had to upgrade to Windows 11; and did so two days ago. Now, I found that I do not have under History any of the former sites I not only visited but also had tabs open. What can I do, if anything, to recover them? Under the Add-ons Manager, if this helps, I already had the app Tab Session Manager, but don't know how to use it. Thanks to all in advance who may have made this same upgrade. Many out there are still on Windows 10.

After I disabled ws2ifsl in the Registry Editor, problems began to occur when launching Firefox: as soon as I clicked the mouse after starting Firefox, it would become unresponsive. Even re-enabling ws2ifsl or refreshing Firefox was of no avail. No matter what I did, it would enter a completely unresponsive state as soon as I clicked the mouse. Do I really have to reinstall Firefox? Note: This is for the Windows version.

My Firefox keeps crashing several times daily.

Once again, Paramount Plus is giving conniptions when via Firefox, when was fine 3 days ago. 3304 or 3005. Last time this happened, we contacted you and it went away right quick. Guess your team found a patch. WAIT -- now plays commercial... but not feature. Try again... NOPE, back to bupkis. They claim not them, every time. Guess you guys stuck patching their screw ups.

Same approximate timeframe, yahoo mail stopped working via Firefox. That still remains.

144.0.2 firefox version has an issue with bookmarks keep, they keep dissapearing & i have to use firefox fix from uninstall option to restore. unable to use email links as it requests that i close firefox window before it can open links, when i do this all bookmarks are gone & i then have to start again. I'm running win11 25h2 with all updates done both chrome & edge are not causing issues

Since updating to Firefox 144, access to bookmarks on my PC running Windows 11 25H2 has been restricted: - Sometimes no bookmarks are displayed at all. Instead, a message appears stating that access to bookmarks is restricted, for example, by a virus scanner. The problem persists even after restarting the computer. - Sometimes the bookmarks are displayed again, but I can neither delete bookmarks nor create new ones.

Disabling the virus scanner (Avira) and other security programs does not solve the problem either. The problem also occurs in Windows Safe Mode.

How can I use the bookmarks normally again?
