I am writing to the English-language forum because the forum does not exist in my language. Some time ago, the browser started to slow down and took a long time to open. Last night I closed it through the task manager and after restarting the browser gave an error: XML parsing error: root element not found Address: chrome: //browser/content/browser.xhtml Line 1, character 1

(Ошибка синтаксического анализа XML: корневой элемент не найден Адрес: chrome://browser/content/browser.xhtml Строка 1, символ 1) In my language

How to solve a problem? I don't want to lose bookmarks and other data, so creating a new profile is not a solution for me.

Firefox version - 82.0.03 64bits

I applied the -no-deelevate fix when I last upgraded and that worked ok Yesterday I ran Windows update - always a bad idea I know - and fixed the problems that caused, but now Firefox will no longer allow picture drag and drop. This IS a firefox issue because Chrome still works ok without any elevation command.

I have also done this: browser.launcherProcess - turn off, then turn back on

Any ideas please ?

***************************** The problem When I start firefox I see a blank page (this was not my starting page before the problem occured)(Image linked).

The overall graphical window is not frozen but I can't open any webpage nor any local file. The option pages don't work either nor any of the about:XXX pages.

*************************** What I tired I cleared my cookie/cache. I tried firefox's safe mode. I refreshed firefox. I deleted my profile and created a new profile. I desactivated all my security software. I ran firefox with root privilege. Updated windows. None of that did solved the problem.

This problem persisted after I haved uninstalled Firefox, deleted my profile, deleted all mozilla directories in ProgramData, AppData, Program, cleaned up my disk with window's 10 utilitary and reinstalled firefox (I also tried a simple install unistall so I don't think I broke firefox by deleting files). When reinstalling firefox I tried both a 64 and a 32 bits install with current and older version none worked.

I scanned my PC for malwares, nothing found. I checked my memory as suggested in a troobleshooting page, (no problem found).

Firefox DOES WORKS in window's safe mode.

************************************ Observations I noticed via my firewall that firefox don't even send any package to the internet if I try to acess a website. Firefox does however acces 127.0.0.1 (at least it asks for permission). Firefox doesn't close if I use top right red cross, it does close if, in task bar I right click/close all windows or if I exit within the "three horizontal bar menu" I precise that my connection is ok and that MS Edge is working fine.

I repeat, Firefox works in window's safe mode.

I would really appreciate your help as I can't find any other thing to try.

The first time I noticed the Megabar (I believe it was FF75) I absolutely hated everything about it and ruins the experience using Firefox. I am also not alone in this matter because as soon as the change was established, communities popped within hours to fix the problem. The old way of fixing this eyesore of an issue was the old about:config and changing around the settings then VIOLA! back to normal. Now after the update to 77, the Megabar is back and forced down everyone's throat and the old about:config is no longer the fix to this terrible experience. Literally after an hour of this trashbar being up, videos and guides popped up to try to fix it. Whole communities have been formed to hate this feature and ask Firefox to change it, or at least make it optional to go back. My question is, looking through google has only come up with the chrome.css(?) fix to this mess. Is there any way to change it back to the old url bar without having to go through the chrome.css fix or just uninstalling and reinstalling a previous Firefox or do I have to just migrate to another browser like Opera or Chromium?

After I resume Windows from sleep, the Whatsapp web app becomes very slow to type in, and the whole browser becomes sluggish as a whole while typing (like this one).

I noticed extra processes being created after each resume. I think it maxes to 2 processes, but I'm not sure at this point as it needs further testing. See the attached image.

Recently, I have been experiencing issues with several of my Office365 SharePoint websites: some page elements are not loading, other are constantly reloading. In order to access my documents, I have to switch to either Edge or Chrome. Also some other pages sometimes have similar issues (xing.com and others). I have deleted all Mozilla files in %APPDATA% and reinstalled Firefox, which did not help. Looks like there is an issue with the current release (83.0).

This is basically a copy of what I put in the Ubuntu forum. The problem is the same, no matter where I post it.

Originally I was using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

I thought it would be good to update to GG (20.10) though I did briefly try FF (20.04).

As the install was done on an existing 18.04 version things remained the same for programs, book marks, etc.

Ok, now the crunch: I USE Firefox ""A LOT"". When it loads, there are...... 8 x 6 windows of FireFox and each of those have anywhere from one to ""THIRTY"" tabs loading.

Believe me: ""It worked!!""

I could use it, also run other tasks as well - though a VM was pushing it with the RAM. But the entire machine worked.

Now, I am lucky if FireFox loads at all. Let alone let me browse.

When it loads some of the window's tops are flashing. A screen shot does not really show this. (I tried)

All that has changed is the O/S from 18.04 and Firefox from (what ever it was) to 83.0

I don't want this to be a finger pointing exercise between Mozilla and Ubuntu. I would prefer it is helpful to all.

What have I tried? I've tried starting FireFox with all addons disabled. Still happens.

I am going to try to remember to (next time) launch FireFox from a Terminal and pipe the output to a file to look for things.

The machine I am using has shown it is well up to being able to have this running. I have had it working for a few years like this.

This post is (for now) to establish there is a problem. I will post more information when I get it, rather than waiting to get it then post, as I feel there are a lot of people who have very similar problems and I want it known: ""You are not alone!""

Now a bit of extra stuff.

Other things which are weird: When I am watching stuff - youtube for example - the playback is/WAS jerky. I hadn't touched anything in the settings.

After digging around, I discovered that I had to turn ""OFF"" the hardware acceleration for the graphics. Question: How did it get turned on? (Semi rhetorical)

I have a lot of local pages I open with passwords. When I load them the CPU load goes through the roof and nearly invariably the program just exits. No crash report.

Which is a good 50% of how it happens. The other 50% is the machine just locks up and I have to power it down.

On my 2017 iMac, OS 10.15.x, I'm running an app-blocking firewall, called HandsOff! by OnePeriodic, which is great at controlling which system processes can connect and report to the web. Firefox (v.83.0) runs fine until a few specific system daemons make contact with my computer, after which no page will load. The daemons in question are remindd, mediasharingd, touristd, and amsaccountsd. Normally HandsOff! sets my preferences for each process, to refer to when those processes attempt another connection. However, these four daemons' prefs do not remain in the settings, yet FFox still refuses to load. Not sure if all daemons are to blame, or only 1 or 2, but they seem related. Other browsers do not work either, but Tor Browser works fine! (which i'm using to send this msg.) My only remedy is to un-install and re-install HandsOff!. Then FFox and others work great until those daemons show up again.

I realize this is partially a HandsOff! issue, but i wish i could start a group email between developers at Mozilla, Tor, and One Periodic, to compare why Tor is the only browser to get through, and to overcome this block.

Thanks!

In recent weeks, calls with audio have become buggy in Firefox. Whenever I engage in a call that accesses the microphone while I have a bluetooth headset connected, the headset starts continuously toggling call mode on and off for an extended duration. This can be anywhere from 10 seconds/3ish toggles to never-ending (meaning I got tired of waiting after about 3 minutes/55ish toggles).

Today I finally decided to debug further. Here are my findings:

  • Problem only exists in Firefox. I tested with Safari, Chromium, Slack and Discord, with no trouble presenting itself in any of them
  • Problem relates to all bluetooth headsets. I have tested with Sennheiser Momentum 2 Wireless and Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless, with both exhibiting the problem in Bluetooth mode. If I have no bluetooth headsets connected, the problem does not present itself. There is also no problem if I connect the Arctis using the wireless base station (which in turn is connected to the laptop by USB) instead of bluetooth. Using the base station, call and non-call are exposed to my mac as different/simultaneous channels — this may have something to do with it.
  • Problem persists with hardware acceleration toggled off
  • Problem persists in safe mode
  • Problem persists in private mode
  • Problem persists both on Whereby.com and Discord.com. On Whereby, it also interferes with the camera. This leads me to believe it might have something to do with WebRTC, as I think both websites use it.
  • Problem persists after reinstalling Firefox
  • On a possibly related note: if I end the voice chat session after it has stabilised, call mode toggles off slowly and always sends a "start playing media" signal to my Mac, even if it didn't pause anything when toggling call mode on.

In sum, this leads me to believe there is some sort of bug in Firefox causing this, but the lack of other topics on here with the same problem makes me skeptical. I am open to any suggestions with regards to further testing I can do. This is obviously very annoying, and I would like to have bluetooth calls working again.

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This is the error I get.

Running Firefox 83.0 on Ubuntu (20.04). After upgrading Ubuntu to current version, Firefox will not load Yahoo e-mail in regular mode. Just thrashes and does nothing. All other websites working fine.

Tried safe mode, and Yahoo mail loads just fine in safe mode. As such, I turned off hardware acceleration. Did not help. Then disabled the only extension I had on Firefox. Then outright removed extension. Cleared cache. Nothing.

Yahoo mail still loads just fine in safe mode, but simply will not load in regular mode. I can access the yahoo main page, but if I click into yahoo mail from there it doesn't load that way either.

Thanks for any help!!

I was lucky enough to be able to buld a new PC recently, Running Windows 10 Pro on a AMD Ryzen 9 5900X rig, Asus Crosshair VII Hero motherboard and 32gb of RAM. Nvidia Gforce 1070 GPU (stand in until I can get better in the new year) Should easily be enough to run Firefox right? Apparently not.

Performance in Firefox is little better than it was on my old rig, (which was still lousy). The browser constantly freezes and locks up, not responding at all to mouse clicks between tabs or on the page. It is especially common when a website opens a file requester, such as when I'm working on my website in Wordpress, but it also happens when working with downloads or seemingly randomly too (my downloads folder is on the C drive and always accessble).

I've tried disabling all plugins (I only have 3, Privacy Badger, Facebook container and Sticky Password), I don't see what point there is in resetting the profile as I only got this computer 3 days ago.

Regards software that might conflict, I run Malwarebytes anti-malware and DisplayFusion but I've tried disabling the latter and still no joy.

I really don't want to Chrome but it's leaving me little choice here. Is there anything else I can try? Thunderbird on the same PC works perfectly.

I've been having this issue ever since the latest release of firefox.

Essentially it will be fine for a while and then all of a sudden firefox is unable to retrieve any headers from the fetch response. If I refresh firefox this fixes the issue, but only for a small amount of time. The same bug doesn't happen on chrome and I haven't had it happen to me yet on firefox developer edition. It happens if I use this browser on private browsing with no plugins as well.

Note that we do use a fetch wrapper but it essentially returns the entire response object in the screenshots below.

Also note that it doesn't seem to happen anywhere but localhost. Is there anything I can do here?

Noticed on the latest release of Firefox after I press quit(I have multiple windows) the process will not fully close; I've confirmed this on both Windows and Ubuntu versions. It seems to happen when I have videos playing while closing as they will continue to play in the background.

Only way to fully close the app is to stop the running background process; the videos cannot be stopped as they are CCTV streams.

I'm not familiar with logging with FF if someone can advise on which ones would be of interest I can provide them.
