Sorry I should've told you how to install it.

  • Click the orange Firefox button > Add-ons > Extensions > click the Settings icon next to the search bar (screwdriver and wrench intercrossed), click Install Add-on from file the find the file you downloaded and open it there. It should bring up a box that says Install Now. Do it then if it asks you to Restart Firefox, do so.

Hi,

It appears that the developer has released a newer version of Hotmail Watcher. Version 2.13 located at https://sites.google.com/site/sonthakit/hotmailwatcher. You should try updating it to see if it works then.

On 12 Apr 2014, an error 509 appear when you download the link. Dropbox.com, which I put the file on, has banned my link to due bandwidth limit. So I upgrade the dropbox account from free user to pro user. But it still be banned. I have email this problem to dropbox team today (12 Apr) but still no reply. Hope they fix it soon.

This can be a doom if this problem cannot be corrected. To make Add-on auto-update work, I need a good cloud storage host which can handle https and can store "XPI" type file. The only one that I can found is Dropbox. Even google drive do not allow XPI file to store so I can't use it. If you know another good site, please tell me at sonthakit@gmail.com

Since the Hotmail Watcher is no longer working, if I downloaded the X-notifier, would that program work the same?

Judging from the add-on, it seems like it's a suitable replaement for Hotmail watcher as it supports more email providers than just Hotmail. I don't use the add-on so I can't personally vouch for it but try it out.

I'll be marking FredMcD's answer as the solution because his explains what's happened.

I'm confused as to how this problem is "solved" since my Hotmail watcher is still not working. I'm not techy and I don't understand.

The problem is solved because there is really nothing we can do. Hotmail Watcher is not able to be downloaded right now. We have no control over add-on availability. support.mozilla.org and addons.mozilla.org are not linked together and have their own separate members. You can contact the developer directly if you wish to have more information on when the addon will be available. FredMcD did provide the information on how to contact him via e-mail

Another way is to open a file explorer, find the new program, and move it into a Firefox window. What is on the window does not matter.
