It has taken over the Firefox page and displays all sort of links in spite of my queries -- in fact, it's trying to interfere as I'm typing this. I tried to uninstall it but it won't uninstall. Am I angry? You betcha!

Your System Details List shows the SavePass 1.1 extension. I don't about the Value Apps 1.7.0.0 extension.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Extensions that do not have a "Remove" button are installed by other software and are not under control of the Firefox extension manager.
Such globally installed extensions are usually found via a registry scan or are installed in a location that Firefox scans for installed extensions.

Extensions installed this way need to be removed via the settings (options/preferences) of the program that has added this extension or you need to uninstall this program via "Control Panel > Programs".

I did try to get my internet provider to help but they were as useful as a screen door on a submarine. I'm now dealing with earthquake alerts -- really a threat here in Ohio.

Thank you ever so much for your excellent help in getting rid of that mess. It looks like this old gal's blood pressure has actually returned to normal.

And I'll know what to do should it happen again -- crossing fingers.

Again thanks!!!!!

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
