Hello,

I can't listen to the music on the following websites:

http://www.cede.ch/en/music/?branch_sub=1&view=detail&id=896510&branch=1 http://estastonne.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-odeon-2011

I use the first a lot of, so it's really annoying. I have already searched and I think the problem has to do with firefox. I have a linux system. When I try to play the music I see the time counter which works perfectly, the only problem is: I have no sound. If I install firefox 25, I have no problem. With firefox 26 or firefox 27 it doesn't work. With the same configuration (plugins for example) if I switch to firefox 25 everything is fine. I have already tried to clear the cache, but it doesn't help. I have no more idea.

If anybody has an idea it would be great!

Thank you

This sounds like an issue with the player on the second site's player.

I am not sure what flavor of Linux this thread is running, but there is an issue with GSStreamer around the time 25 - 27 that was enabled-

I am looking in that site and seeing javascript video player. The GSStreamer is only used with html5 and h.264 and others have their own codec.

After some digging on that second site, its an mp3 file. It is something called TralbumData which is a hack for streaming bandcamp music. They use MP3-128 format to stream data. http://bandcamp.com/help/audio_basics There also is no volume control.

So to answer your question it seems to have been something that has stopped this from working. Please make sure your media player is up to date if you update to version 27.

The bug for this specific page is https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=921714 which recommends deactivate media.gstreamer.enabled, in the about:config as well.

That should fix the problem!

Hi, Try fixing common audio issues with these troubleshooting tips: http://mzl.la/LL9mLw

I also tested in Firefox beta version 28 and the audio worked pretty well, if you would like to give that a try as well.

Both sites work for me on Linux.

The first site uses MP3 files that are send as audio/mpeg, so make sure that you have enables the appropriate plugin that is added by the Gecko media player.
You can check this on the about:plugins page and in Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins

The second page uses a Flash player for me.
Do you otherwise have problems with Flash?

Did you check the volume setting in whatever applet you have installed in your distribution (e.g. PulseAudio volume control)?

Hi, thank you for your help. I tried to install a nightly build from firefox but it didn't help. I also tried to clear the cache but it had no effects. I can watch some youtube videos with no problem, so I think I don't have a problem with flash.

For the volume setting, I think it's not a problem. I have the sound on youtube and nothing on that website. By simply installing firefox 25 and changing nothing, it works. So I think it's not a problem with the volume control.

I have perhaps a plugin problem. But I don't know what is the problem. I discovered the following: if flashplugin is installed, I have sound on the first website with firefox 25. On firefox 27 I see the elapsed time, but I have no sound. If I uninstalled the flashplugin I get the following message with firefox 25:

An error occurred while playing back the audio sample files. Please switch to the CeDe test page for more information.

But with firefox 27 nothing happens I get no message. I see the elapsed time and I have no sound. So I assume firefox 27 uses something else to play the music, but what ? Any idea what I can check ?
