I was using it fine no problem (except for yahoo's own stuff and maybe some add ons stuff) with the firefox browser itself. although, for some reason, just in the past couple of days, there has been something else. whenever I try to click to move an email to another folder or mark something as read it won't click at all. it also won't mark the email as read when I open it either. I tried disabling add ons, restarting the browser, refreshing the page, logging in and out all of these things multiple times. nothing works! what's the problem?! I have had SO many problems with browsers in general lately and especially just yahoo mail stuff so much, why?! what is going on?! PLEASE HELP!

does anybody also know how, in general, I can get the folders to show as bold again? it stopped doing this altogether awhile ago for some reason I don't know why or how.

Hi Rosa, it's good to know that Yahoo! mail works normally in Firefox's Safe Mode. Perhaps you can review your extensions to see which ones might affect content on the site and see whether you can enter an exception.

In many cases, there will be an Options button for an extension on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions.

why? I've used them all along and they've always worked and the site has always worked fine no problem. I'm so sick of having endless multiple problems with this computer and the internet ALL the damn time! it's beyond enough! I can't take it anymore!

Hi Rosa, I'm not sure what to tell you. Yahoo has been changing its site, and add-ons sometimes get updated, so nothing stands still.

If the website is intolerable, you might be able to access your Yahoo! mail through a stand-alone email program such as Mozilla's Thunderbird or Microsoft's Windows Live Mail (part of Live Essentials).

I found these instructions for the mail settings, but haven't tried it myself: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4075.html

ok thanks I never had much luck with those things so I'll just stay away, lol. yahoo needs to just stop changing like every other stupid site we use especially when there's nothing wrong with them. we wouldn't have to keep adding these extensions and crap if they didn't do that in the first place! ugh so annoying.

ok, so, interestingly, it seems to work ok again all of a sudden. i'm still extremely confused as usual. i don't know what, if anything, changed, but it did. however, for some reason, on this computer (the one i use all the time) it still doesn't show the folders as being bold when there's unread messages, BUT[!], the other computer which I don't use as often, DOES show them as being bold again....WTF?!?!

Hi Rosa, I wonder whether Firefox is having a hard time with the font used on the site?

If you change the zoom level a couple times (Ctrl+ to enlarge, Ctrl- to shrink) can you see the folder with the new message become any bolder?

nope. doesn't make a difference.
