When Firefox crashes, it usually records information about what was happening at that moment. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the support article "Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes" (especially the last section) for steps to get those crash IDs, and then post some of the recent ones here.

If you discover a site or way you can repeat this error easily, try to replicate the error in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

Another user reported this issue here: Erro TypeError: oE is null (discussion in Portuguese; Google Translate).

The "oE is null" message is also one of the symptoms in this thread (not sure it has been solved yet): After years of happily using Firefox, sudden, recurrent calamity.

i have tried to see what was wrong, by running it in safe mode, but the error didn't occur in safe mode. I've tried disabling applications, but the crash still happens.

Hi geegee2, what did you try to disable? You can review/disable/remove extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Is that what you already did?

I see that you have some Norton software installed (Norton IPS and Norton Toolbar)

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

Went through all these procedures! No help! Problem seems to be more an annoyance but problem presented at exactly the same time the most recent Java update was installed (per event viewer) These type error messages seem more related to Java but I have no idea how to correct it except wait for the next Java update? Nothing I do to correct with Firefox procedures seems to help! Can't just remove Java as most Sites still need the resource!

You can disable the Java plugin (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins).

You can also check in "Windows Control Panel > Programs" for recently installed programs to see if anything suspicious shows up because Oracle may have bundled other software with its Java update.

FWIW I got this error as well, and it only appeared after installing the Unity plugin, and it was immediately upon Firefox startup.

FF version 26.0 Unity version 4.3.4.31067

We need the plugin to play a game, so I've set the plugin to ask the user before activating...the error went away.
