I've seemed to have obtained a browser hijacker called "Start.Qone8.com", and am having trouble removing it.
About 2-3 days ago, I started noticing after clicking FIrefox in the taskbar that it was taking a couple seconds to open rather than instantaneously as usual and then this Start.Qone8.com pops up. Not only that, but my default google search is repeatedly being set to Amazon.
Things I have tried:
-Removing any unrecognized programs from the control panel. (Problem remains.)
-Simply clicking the search button at the top right and changing defaults to Google. (Does not stay default.)
-Resetting Firefox which use to do me good (No difference, problem remains.)
-Removing a few add-ons. (Thought the only add-ons i tend to install are all Firefox.)
-Dragging a new homepage (Apparently Start.Qone8.com will ignore this once i reopen the browser, once closed.)
I've tried avoiding any "free cleaners, anti-viral/malware, bots" or any of that garbage, since I fail to believe such an effective thing exists, since they'll probably just give new viruses as well.
I'll appreciate any help that can guide me manually rather than suggest a sketchy, not really heard of removal download. So please none of that, "Oh its easy, two steps, install this". I want to play this safe. Only two step solutions I want to do are ones that just involve me clicking things manually.
If it appears that its absolutely impossible according to most of you to do it without some garbage removal installer, then I'll consider it.
