1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
2. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
3. Type browser.newtab.url in the bar at the top of the page.
4. Click the first result.
5. A new window shall appear, type about:blank in the box and click ok.
6. are they gone now?

You can create these Boolean prefs on the about:config page if you want to prevent Firefox from generating thumbnails for the about:newtab page.

• name: browser.pagethumbnails.capturing_disabled with value: true
• name: pageThumbs.enabled with value: false

You need to delete the thumbnails folder in the Firefox profile folder to remove already stored web page thumbnails.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

• Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

well i found a very little box inthe upper left that take this away? go figure thanks. now to get rid of that little box. i don't want someone clicking that and getting pictures os where i have been. i did what waka flocka said but that little box was still there. can that littl box be made to go away.

also i just upgraded to 22.0 but i was at this ver. before and got an add in the lower right screen that just would not go away. i ran the virus programs waka flocka sent me but those did not help so i went back to 14.0 . now i have updated again to 22.0 if that add returns i will go back to 14.0 unless someone knows why that happened and how to get rid of it. thanks

got it now. thanks i did not enter the txt in the little popup window that should have been about:blank. i left that part as it showed in the box and that was wrong. now i have it saying about:blank and when i open a new tab the little box in the upper right is gone thanks waka flocka. good job.

thanks Waka_Flocka_Flame i went to the about:config after i figured out how to do it and just entered www.yahoo.com now i get yahoo up. i use yahoo for my email and having that for the home page save me steps. again thanks for the help. i could not find the forlder to place the user.js file into so the about works for me. b.p.

I have my home page and new tab set to about:home.

I use about:about to have easy access to other about pages as well.
For searching I either use a keyword search via the location bar or the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar.

Note that the user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session and you need to edit the user.js to change them permanently.
