Dear firefox.

I have been trying to remove Mixi DJ search from my firefox for a week now and it keeps coming back. I have removed it from Chrome and IE but I prefer Firefox, It does not appear any where in the apps fields and can not delete from the about config cmds or the regestry. or any cleaners. I have installed and uninstalled firefox many times and it keeps coming back;

              Thank you Graham Borrow

hello graham, this sounds like a problem caused by adware on your pc. please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

I seemed to have cleared the problem by re-setting Firefox

I have been through all these things. I have reset Firefox. I have removed and re-installed Firefox. I have removed programs. I have removed add-ons. I have run a virus scan. I have run a c-cleaner. And I still have the stupid MixDj page when I open Firefox. How can I get rid of this bloody thing?!

Hi stuhuck, just to be clear on what's happening: Mixi DJ has replaced your normal home page when you start Firefox, or opens in addition to your normal home page?

(1) Change your home page setting

This article has the steps: How to set the home page.

If you've done this before and it got reset, proceed to #2 and #3

If the site is not listed as your home page, and/or Ctrl+n doesn't launch the unwanted page, skip to #3

(2) Check for and rename or delete any user.js file

This article has the details: How to fix preferences that won't save.

(3) [if applicable] Check for a URL in the shortcut you use to start Firefox

Right-click your Firefox shortcut > Properties > Shortcut tab

Make sure the target line ends with firefox.exe" with nothing after it.

Worst case scenario: Delete Firefox data folder in your %appdata% before reinstalling. Also, check if your FF shortcut is not afftected and there are no browser freezer programs in your control panel.

To avoid losing potentially irreplaceable data, it's probably better to just rename that folder something like OldFirefox rather than deleting it completely.
