Firefox no longer loads webpages, try to load web address and it goes back to about:home
Just upgraded to Firefox 17 from 15 and when the update installed it said successful, however when I try to load a web address the address bar blinks quickly and shows "about:home" and the webpage doesn't even change at all. Anyone have any ideas of why this could be happening?

It worked after a reboot, never had to reboot my computer after a Firefox update. I should of thought of that first, sorry for wasting your time guys.

Try to Reset Firefox: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
Also try the steps at Firefox and other browsers can't load websites and Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can
Thanks Tylerdowner, one more quick question before I reset Firefox -
Is there any way to back up the saved password? I have a lot of them, if not I'll just type them into notepad.
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
See:
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
Reset does save all your passwords that are saved in the Firefox password manager
Reset Firefox - failed
Changed settings in Avast Internet Security - failed
Start Firefox in safemode (after reset) - failed
Windows firewall is disabled
Anything else?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Ran Superantispyware, Rougekiller and Malwarebytes already, all came back clean.
I'll boot into safe mode and see if that works.
