I have 2 versions of Firefox loaded on my Mac so software with not update. How do I remove just one version and not lose personal information?
There was a version of Firefox loaded on my Mac when I did a data transfer from my old system that loaded an older version. Now both are on there and I cannot complete updates. When I click a link it is defaulting to the older version and my add-on's are not working correctly.
How do I remove just 1 version (doesn't matter which since the personal information from the 1 version is duplicated on the other) without losing my personal data?
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
- Firefox 15.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the Firefox application(s) (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
