Can't Scroll Inside Drop Down Menus 的最新解答https://support.mozilla.org/zh-TW/questions/9258302012-06-10T04:44:08-07:00Thank you SO much! I had been to their website, but when I had hovered over Resources, then hovered over Drivers on the drop down, I had clicked on the OEM Support Sites (thinking it was the only option), which of course took me back to HP after clicking on HP. I completely missed the fact I could click directly on the Drivers which takes you to the "generic" drivers page.

So, I downloaded the same one since I also have 64 bit, installed it, and 2 minutes later, my problem is GONE. Thanks again, I really appreciate it. It's such a small thing, but I was going insane scrolling them all the other way; partly because I was still forgetting that it didn't work with the track pad which is how I kept trying to do it out of habit. Thus, I ended up re-opening them all a second time and scrolling them the other way. Frustrating because it didn't work, and frustrating because I kept forgetting it didn't work, haha.

Anyway, thanks again. Hopefully anyone searching for this problem can find this and solve their issue too.

I went to synaptics site and downloaded their latest driver which is lower than 15.3.29.0 for some reason. It's 15.2.20, I got the one for 64 bit since that's what I have. You have to uninstall the 15.3.29.0 first since it's "newer". Now it works like it should in FF as well as IE and everything else. So for some reason the latest FF does have a clash with the latest synaptics driver and the FF devs need to include a fix with the next update.

It removed the scrolling icon like it was supposed to, but the drop down menus still do not scroll.

It's Synaptics Touch Pad v8.1. It is using a driver provided by Synaptics, version 15.3.29.0 dated 2012-05-30T12:01:34-07:0002CWRXhttps://support.mozilla.org/zh-TW/questions/925830#answer-337386
It's Synaptics Touch Pad v8.1. It is using a driver provided by Synaptics, version 15.3.29.0 dated 10/13/2011, and is supposedly the most current version. I have tried getting newer off the HP website, letting Windows search for the most current version, and looking at the Synaptics site, but I still end up with the same version.

I have double checked the scrolling regions to make sure I am within them as well as all the other settings regarding the touch pad. In fact, I had to enable the scrolling regions because they were disabled by default and instead used two finger scrolling. For what it's worth, two finger scrolling gives me the same result - it does not scroll the drop down menu.

As I said, it works just fine in IE and all other programs, so I'm not sure I understand how the drivers for the touchpad could be the issue. It seems to me it's more likely that Firefox is not interpreting the "signal" from the touchpad correctly, yet IE does. Then again, I've been wrong before...

It has an Alps Electric touchpad with a driver dating back to Feb. 2007. This may not be comparable to what you have on your HP. Do you know which kind you have (e.g., Alps, Synaptics)? You could try the Mouse Control Panel for information, or perhaps there is a separate one for the touchpad.

Yes I am running Firefox 12.

Click the drop down for the category. Use the track pad to scroll the list. Mine closes the list and returns focus to the browser instead of scrolling the list. This works fine in IE.

The mouse pointer typically is inside the drop down when attempted, but it doesn't work inside, outside, or directly on top of the scroll bar.

As I said, it's odd because the focus follows the pointer to scroll other things like texts boxes and stuff just fine (like the one I am using now). Pointer inside the box, the box scrolls, pointer outside, and the window scrolls.

Are you running Firefox 12 now with the same result?
