I am connecting through IE 8.0. Firefox will not connect. The waiting icon rolls and rolls until the screen saver kicks in. Is it my computer? My cable internet connection? Firefox?

I am having to use IE 8.0 to write this. While it is slower than usual, at least it connects. Since Firefox updated to v10.0.2; it does not connect, even to my homepage. The connection icon (similar to the hourglass in Windows); just rolls and rolls. It never connects, or connects an hour or more later (at best). The screen saver kicks in due to inactivity, even while it is trying to connect. Is it my computer (I know I need more RAM)? Is it my cable internet connection (I have already called the provider and set up a tech visit). Or, is it this version of Firefox?

That did it! Restored defaults on McAfee I.S. and re-started. Came right up this time. If this happens again, I will remember what to do. Thank you!

Can you shortly describe what you did for the next person that has this problem? And choose the post that solved your problem.

I opened up the McAfee Internet Security program (which usually runs in the background), double-clicked Firewalls, checked for the latest version of McAfee Internet Security (it was the latest version, so I did not have to update it). In the Firewalls selection, I clicked the button to "Restore Defaults." Closed out and re-started the computer. This time, Firefox connected within seconds.
