When I click on something the window scrolls up on its own--how do I get it to stay in place like every other browser?

This is most notable when I am browsing the comments section for newspapers. When I click "Recommend" or "Like" the window scrolls up on its own to the top, which is very annoying. I'd like to keep reading from where I was and still be able to click "Recommend" or "Like"

You may have switched on caret browsing.

You can press press F7 (on Mac: fn + F7) to toggle caret browsing on/off.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Accessibility: [ ] "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages"

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
