"Icons and text" style toolbar buttons no longer have borders
Don't know what more than the title I can say, I updated to Firefox 8 and icons of the text/icon style no longer have distinct borders. If this was intentional, I'm having trouble finding the option to disable this visually jarring style change.

You don't think dotted lines are distinct borders? They certainly are a border.
The favicon used to represent no assigned icon was changed from a dog-eared white sheet to a square with a dotted outline. I would have put up with it, but with all complaints I can't stand it either and did fix most of it with a style, everything but the Library lists, See
No, I'm talking about toolbar icons, in the previous version I was using (one the 7s I imagine) each icon (eg back/forward, reload etc) in text/icon style are surrounded by a distinct border, after updating they are not.
My toolbar buttons have borders perhaps a little gray. You could install an extension, while I do dislike the the Firefox 8 icons even more than everything else that was changed for icons since Firefox 2, I figure it not worth slowing things down regardless of how unwisely it has been done because I only have 4 icons back/forward, home, new tab.

Oops, you said text, I don't use test on the navigation bar instead of icons seems that would waste space. I do use text on my bookmarks toolbar and that is done with a stye rather than choosing text in customization.

Yeah, I use text because I prefer the larger size option, since the larger buttons with no text were removed several versions ago. I'm thinking reverting to my previous version is the easiest way to deal with this (haven't managed to find a suitable extension YET with basic googling/searching firefox addons, I'll keep checking and see if I can live with this look), even if I am worried about security issues.
