I close out firfox then I cannot open anything without a warning saying firefox still running??
I open firefox, I check my e mail, then I close the program. I then cannot open anything as I get a warning that firefox is still running and I must restart windows. I have tried re loading firefox to no avail. What is wrong?

One possible reason could be malware running in the background.
Thanks for your response. How would I check if malware is on my computer?

You can also try to update your current AV and then schedule a thorough scan.
Sounds like Firefox is "hanging at exit". That problem is frequently caused by an Extension or a Plugin. Read all of the following articles.
NOTE: Establish a habit of exiting/closing Firefox with Firefox button > Exit or File > Exit to allow an orderly shutdown of Firefox and closing of all of the files that Firefox has open.

- Firefox is already running but is not responding
- Use Firefox Safe Mode to find a problem with an Extension or Plugin:
- Don't check anything when entering Safe Mode, just continue
- If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode it is probably and Extension or Plugin causing the problem
