Fox4 says that it PREVENTs the user from having two tabs open to the same URL. There are times when I WANT multiple open tabs! Can I override this? (Please tell me. If I can't, then I don't want Fox4. I'll stick with 3.x and NoScript.) Thanks.

Tell me EXACTLY how to FORCE Fox4 to allow me to have MORE THAN ONE tab open to any given web page.

Otherwise, I have to stick with Fox3.

Precise details, please. Thanks.

  1. Open a new tab - Ctrl + t
  2. Start typing the URL in the awesome bar. The page should displayed in the list below with "Swtich to Tab" written under it
  3. Scroll down to the URL in the list using the down arrow key and hit Alt + Enter.

The webpage is opened a second time instead of simply switching to it. Simple.

The Switch to Tab no more extension can be used to disable the "Switch to tab" option - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/switch-to-tab-no-more/

Your answer would seem to be well-researched. Perhaps I'll use Fox4, and try this. (God, I hate that they apply the term "Awesome" to their app.! What am I, a kindergartener to be impressed by the lingo? If anything backs me off from Firefox, it's that, and the cutsie animal mascots blaring, "Fun! Fun!"! What kind of software needs mascots, and particolored decoration!? Bojemoi!) I suppose that, if the -ware works, I'll end up wearing it.

Thanks for your time and effort in my behalf.

Wow! So, I'm in line behind others in my complaint. Many see the error in this User-Obsequious-ware craze that has bedeviled us in recent years. Must those who run web-e-mailers and Mozilla and...and...and... treat us all as if we were children? Does it get to you, too? Devils, Sir, devils! (Ah well, as long as they come when we call their Name, I suppose they have their place.)

And thank you for telling me about this one. (There are so many add-ons, I can't keep up with 'em.) It argues that, with many complainers on this point, the Mozies are just going to have to re-write their code to address this one, for their next release. Maybe I should just stick with 3.x until the 4.x series seasons, and matures a little more. So many ikky bugs!
