Before you do anything regarding Flash, please do the following. Click Help | Check For Updates. The Firefox version you're running at the moment exposes your machine to attack.
After you update, go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and install it from there.
Hi Zircal and thanks for the quick reply. I have done as you recommended which first of all involved downloading the 3. something mozilla. i was then asked to download the 4.something mozilla, which i did. i next went to the adobe site you linked only to be offered the choice of saving or cancelling, NB not run, and this is the that i get:- BBC Radio 4 The Radioplayer partnership

Unfortunately, I can't test the BBC player for you because I'm not located in the UK. The BBC blocks it for all other countries.
Sure Zircal, I understand that problem having lived abroad. I have excepted bbc radio in the tools, options. unfortunately i still get the same window telling me flash is not detected although i have saved these files twice now. does flash have something to do with adobe?
Yes, Adobe is the owner now having bought Macromedia.
Can you do the following please.
- Download uninstall_flash_player.exe
- Download install_flash_player.exe
These are both direct download links so you won't see a page, just the files to download. They look like the ones you see in the screenshot.
Close Firefox first and then run the uninstall_flash_player.exe file. Then reboot so that the operating system deletes the data from the Windows Registry.
When the system reboots to the desktop, double click the install_flash_player.exe file to install it. Do not open Firefox first.
Then try the BeeB site again.
Hi Zircal, Many thanks for your patience in helping me with this problem. I can now listen to a bit of radio now thanks to you. I was finding everything difficult as the OS was new as was the laptop. Many thanks once again.
