I had separate Reload and Stop buttons to the left of my Awesome Bar, but was able to get the reload/stop bar to appear in the bar by going to the Firefox button, then Options, then Toolbar Layout. I drug the Reload button to the right of the Awesome Bar, then the Stop button to the Right of the Reload button - when I closed the Toolbar Layout dialog, the combined Reload/Stop button appeared in the Awesome Bar. Hope this helps...

I tried the suggestion at first, but not working for me. And then I tried to play around with the arrangement of the button, and apparently you have to put the reload button next to the awesome bar and then the stop button to the other side of the reload button (so that reload button is in between the awesome bar and the stop button) and then only it worked. thanks for giving the general idea though. :D

Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload and Stop and Go button that appears at the right end of the location bar.

• Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
• Move the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the location bar.
• Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
• Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons.

UGH - c'mon!!!!! You're making the EXACT same mistakes that the clowns at Netscape were making - this is the reason why you guys left Netscape and made Firefox in the first place!

None of the above suggestions is working. I have no option to "add" the reload and stop buttons when I go to view->toolbars->customize. The icons don't appear in the list.

Why are you messing with a good thing?? Stop! wait! I don't have a stop button to stop you from making the same mistakes!!!! I'm running Firefox 4.0 (which was a mistake to download) and OS X 10.5.8. I did this b/z Firefox crapped out on me and I lost all my tabs, because they DIDN'T come over to the new version...please stop complexifying that which should remain simple!!!

Ok, to correct the above - you need to select "icons + text" in order to force the stop button to appear...this is clearly a bug. Switching back to just "icons" and closing the window then makes the stop and reload buttons disappear.

I still can't move the stop and reload buttons to where they BELONG. I don't need the home button. I've tried to turn off the "google search" oval thingy and I can't get rid of that either. How do I get rid of the "bookmarks" pull-down? Get rid of the "toolbar" icon pulldown. You're making the same mistakes as IE - cluttering up the browser and removing the ability to fully customize it!

Why "screwup" a good thing? Leave the "reload button" alone!

REALLY REALLY REALLY want the option to add these buttons back.

Not to mention how this makes it complex to have to re-train my parents on how to use Firefox.

Buttons should be removable, not add-back-able and certainly these are critical features that should not have been removed.

I too often want to stop a page as it's loading.

I don't see Reload or Stop as options whether or not I have Icons or Icons&Text selected.

I'm on mac osx and FF 4.0

It's confusing when folk say go to '"View > Toolbars > Customize" when I've nothing anywhere that says 'View'. Clicking on the orange firefox tab at top right gives me Options > Toolbar layout.

I've found the only way to get the 'stop' 'reload' options is as solid spin says to pick icons + text... but we're trying to get rid of clutter!

I also miss the little down arrow next to the previous page left arrow icon that let you go back loads of pages in one go.

One of the pull-down menus at the top of the screen is called "View". I'm running computer simulations right now, so I've borrowed several computers. I'm running the following Platforms:

Windows XP (x64) Windows7 Windows7 Mac OSX 10.5.9

All 4 machines (regardless of OS) have "View" as one of the pulldown menus. It's really View->Toolbars->Customize. When you click Customize, you need to look at the lower left corner of the "floating window" that pops up. It gives you a choice for "icons + text"

Now that I am seeing more and more people complain, I find it EVEN MORE REMARKABLE that Firefox is making the same mistakes that their progenitor, Netscape, made and that Microsoft continues to make...

Needless to say, it has been awhile since I setup my toolbar. Once accessing View-Toolbars-Customize, I realized the reload button was attached to the right end of the address bar. Now that I have re-arranged things, all is well.

I can't decide if I like this version and can't find my old version. Anyway I would greatly appreciate not only having all my buttons back but having all navigation buttons on the left side as per normal. My reason for wanting it there is that if I miss type an address it is close enough to stop the action. When it is all the way on the right with current day browser and net speeds I can't even think about stopping before the page I load. I mean seriously what if a mistype takes me to some site that has illegal content in my country (unawares) Where normally I might have clicked to stop before the screen loaded now I can't even move that fast.

I have a problem with my reload button. Sometimes it does not reload the page at all. The only way I can get updated content is to close the tab and reopen it. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I had the same damn problem, too. Once I was able to induce the stupid reload button to appear in the URL window (why the f$%k they put it THERE, I have no clue), I was able to use my directions above to get the stupid thing out of there.

Once you LITERALLY drag it back TO the floating window (after doing view-> toolbars -> customize), drag it BACK OUT to the left-hand side, where the other navigation buttons are. Make sure you have "icons + text" highlighted in the floating window.

Oh, and it's next to impossible to get the OLD firefox back. I can do it with my Mac OS X, and it's easy under Unix, b/z I still have the old "tar", but I couldn't imagine how one would do it under Windows, b/z I can't find any legacy .zip or .rar files that contain Firefox 3.5.16...

I REALLY REALLY hope the clowns at Firefox realize what a disastrous mistake this was - on so many levels - time to go REread your Mission Statement, guys!

Thank gawd all of my .ftps passwords and IP addresses were transferred over (using FireFTP). I would have never ever recovered all of them for all the spectrometers I use...

See my above - you can get it all back, now that Firefox coders have screwed it up.

I was able to put it all back and restore the navigation buttons to the left side. Such a shame that the "combo" back button is no longer available, per "watcha"s complaint above - I loved that thing!

@chuck601 - read my above carefully. I described exactly how I move the reload and stop icons back to the left side of the tool bar.

This Firefox 4 is enough to send me back to Explorer!!! Or maybe switch to Google Chrome.

I truly hate it and wish there was some way for me to go back to the previous Firefox version.

Did you understand out that you have to drag and drop these icons where you want them while the "view-toolbar-customize" window is still open? Also if you right click the back arrow, you will get the recent history. Not sure who asked that question. My apologies if you already have this information.
