Hello,

When I want to listen to a radio (.mp3) using firefox under linux fedora, it doesn't work. So I have downloaded mplayerplug-in but it still does not work. In fact, when I click to the mp3 link, it seems that it tries to open it with jw player. The problem is I can't manage to tell firefox to change the software tool it uses for opening this file. I know it sounds stupid but I have looked at a lot of place but it has been successless. Anybody could help me? Cheers.

Try to disable all media player plugins (Totem, Xine, MPlayer) except the Gecko Media player plugins (there should be more than one listed in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins). That plugin works best for me.

JWPlayer is Flash and you have 3 outdated Flash plugins installed that probably won't work with curent Flash content.

Your above posted system details show 3 outdated Flash plugins that you should remove.

  1. Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32
  2. Shockwave Flash 9.0 r999. Gnash 0.8.5, the GNU SWF Player. Copyright © 2006, 2007, 2008 Free Software Foundation, Inc. Gnash comes with NO WARRANTY, to the extent permitted by law. 3. Shockwave Flash 9.0 r100

Install the latest version of the Flash plugin.

Hello Cor-el,

Thanks for your answer. I think I've done what you said (see images) but it still doesn't work. When I right-click on the window from which the radio should play it still says "... About JW player 4.4.198...". So I don't know how to tell firefox I would like to use gecko-mediaplayer. Cheers.
