Hardware is quite strong for browsing Intel Q6600, 4GB RAM, Geforce 8800GTS 512 MB

I am experiencing mini-freezes, also I have to mention that I use a 24' screen at 1920x1200 and I browse most of the sites zoomed in (realy like the way it is implemented in firefox):

These random (i cant locate a pattern) mini-freezes (some times -5%- after the pause i hear the HDD spinning) happen when: 1) I type (i originally thought that this happens because I have a spelling addon) 2) I see videos on youtube: problems include minifreezes, reduced performance (cant watch 1080p), minifreezes seem to affect caching which stops and i have to point the slider to a new location to re-initiate.

Have checked with Internet explorer and Opera and those problems do not happen, performance is better and there are no minifreezes.

被選擇的解決方法

Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

  • Shockwave Flash 10.0 r42

Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.

You can also update to Firefox 3.6.9 (Help > Check for Updates)

Which security software (firewall) do you have?

Make sure that it isn't hindering Firefox.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

Update Flash -> done. I thought this was done automatically trough the find updates function but I guess I was wrong

Update to 3.6.9 -> I've read some problems about bookmarks and password so I will wait a while for this

Check Firewall -> done allow any UTP and UDP for Firefox

Safe Mode -> works great except caching for youtube, performance issues are gone and no mini-freezes

I am back to normal mode and I have disable most of the addons. This behaviour was due to one of the following plugins, I don't have the time to check them one by one :S 1) Better Privacy 2) Download helper (excluded) 3) ShowIP 4) WOT

So to sum up: i) Updating the flash and disabling most of my addons did the trick. ii) Why doesn't flash update through an automated manner, like other extensions do?

Offtopic: The caching of youtube videos works fine in Internet explorer but not in Firefox even with latest flash and safe mode any suggestions? I tried to download a large youtube video using video helper and it seems that it stops at some point as I can see in the download manager, pausing and resuming continues the download, maybe firefox cannot perform this function while streaming comes to the end of the cached material. Using dsl connection 16/1 Mbps

In addition to having Firefox open I also have Safari open, when Firefox freezes I'll refresh a web page in Safari which unfreezes Firefox. I hope this helps in trying to resolve Firefox's freezing issue. If they can't figure this out I'll be forced to switch over completely to Safari.

I had this problem- mini freezes on videos (Flash)- at first it was just short jumps when I went to full screen, however today it seemed to affect even the shrunken video. Trying all the suggestions in this thread did not help. All plugins were updated to most recent version. Firefox latest version 3.6.12. Safe Mode did not cure it. Turning off different plugins did not cure it. Trying earlier versions of 3.6 did not cure it.

Curiously, if I had a tab open using IE the Firefox tab would actually work a bit better....instead of mini freezes, some erratic jumping of the frames in the video. And the tab using IE would render the video perfectly, whether small or full screen. It appeared to me to be something inherent in 3.6 causing the problem rather than any particular add-on. In utter frustration I dumped 3.6.12 and went back to 3.5.14 and once again all is well. No more video mini freezes. Until this is fixed I have no intention of using any version of 3.6 And nothing could persuade me to try 4.0 Beta. I'll stay with this old 3.5 until Mozilla is certain they have fixed the problem or can tell us how to do so.
