Hidden windows opened in firefix by website infomoneyservice.com

more options

After running firefox a long time, i close it. But it appeared that it was still opened using a large part of memory.

I kill firefox, then reopen it, and 4 windows open with blank pages on the website infomoneyservice.com.

It appears these pages were opened before, but in an hidden way, and they don't show in history.

It happened to me 5 or 6 times since 1 week before i wa able to reproduce some symptoms in a systematic way.

I think this problem is also related to some interceptions of google results.

I have the same issue. Is there a fix for this? My computer freezes often and when I restore the firefox session those 4 infomoneyservice windows appear.

I think that some other website has found a way to hack into firefox, as this problem does not seem to happen with internet explorer.

When some windows are hidden, the pop-up window of firefox is not normal : - in normal closure, the closing pop-up window has 3 buttons with on left side : "record or quit". - when hidden windows are running, the closing pop-up window has only 2 buttons, quit and cancel.

When only hidden windows are running in the background after i quit firefox, i can see some tcp sessions from firefox, for instance :

[System Process]:0 TCP mypc:3117 212.243.210.160:http TIME_WAIT [System Process]:0 TCP mypc:3118 212.243.210.178:http TIME_WAIT [System Process]:0 TCP mypc:3135 cookex1.ads.adx.vip.ch1.yahoo.com:http TIME_WAIT [System Process]:0 TCP mypc:3136 mpr2.ngd.vip.ch1.yahoo.com:http TIME_WAIT firefox.exe:1108 TCP mypc:3139 173.192.136.86-static.reverse.softlayer.com:http ESTABLISHED firefox.exe:1108 TCP mypc:3151 fg-in-f101.1e100.net:http ESTABLISHED firefox.exe:1108 TCP mypc:3152 193.247.193.29:http ESTABLISHED

So the hidden windows are doing something with unknown websites.

Hi there, same problem occures on our PC!

If I search for "infomoneyservice" @google the first result links to this site but i will redirect to another site. only if I type the URL directly this site will be loaded.

Further we have problems to log into AOL mail and ebay...

Additional Informations:

I searched for "infomoneyservice" at google. the first result was a link to "support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=en-US...1" but on click I was redirected to "http://pearlfishery.com/search.php?q=infomoneyservice".

Next I tried to look for trojans (specially ZBOT), but my antivir tool (AVAST) did not found anything. I used Kaspersky "ZBotKiller" http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/utility and this tool found one infected file. after removal of ZBOT the problem with the four popup sites was solved. But I think it was not the only one Malware on this PC... I still have problems with AOL Mail and ebay login.

I have opened a bugzilla 583472

I did try to revisit all the sites visible in my history and check if closing pop-up window change : the problem seems to happen when i visit google page !

either www.google.fr or www.google.com that is automatically changed to www.google.ch

So it seems that something on google main page is opening hidden pages in my mozilla without my consent...

The hidden windows are still triggered by google website even if javascript is blocked in Firefox.

There is a huge problem of security in Firefox if a website can trigger the hidden opening of windows in the background.

I had the same problems. Firedoy AND IE are open hidden windows. I have written a new Master Boot Sector with fixmbr and fixboot and my System works very well. I checked my system for trojans but nothing found. My System Windows XP Firefox 3.6.8. You can fix your system on your own risk! You can lost all of your data, if the fixmbr crash!

It may be a problem with mbr, but there is still a security problem in the fact that firefox can open some hidden windows without my consent neither my direct knowledge, triggered by an external website.

The problem was not only the firefox also the IE8 openend 4 hidden windows named blank.php. Minutes later the system crash and i has network errors. Kaspersky found nothing. than i read a solution with the fixmbr and that work fine. But why can firefox 3.6.8 open hidden windows? Thats crazy. Safari has no problems.

Hello everyone.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode (don't forget to select Disable all add-ons when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and this one for plugins.

If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.

If the problem does not disappear when all add-ons are disabled, please tell me, so we can work from there. Please have no fear of following my instructions to the line, as all can be easily undone.

It's also possible that your computer is infected by malware. To scan for malware, install, update and run these programs in this order. They are all free for personal use, but some have limited functionality in their "free mode", but the features you'll miss are not really needed to find and remove the problem you have. Remember that not all programs detect the same malware!

If these don't find it or can't clear it, please tell me and I'll provide you with further assistance.

Yup..I had same problem...ran scan..showed nothing, would sometimes hear audio ads in background. Internet was constantly freezing and I would have to manually shut down. I gave up, uninstalled OS and started fresh. Reinstalled Windows Xp and I am presently reinstalling all my programs. So far everything is back to normal, top speed on internet. I had put all my videos, pictures, etc that I wanted to save onto stick so now just have to put them back on.
