This morning I started my computer and firefox like normal. When I started firefox is said it was updating even though it didn't ask to update, which is normal for firefox. Then it restarted my entire computer. I haven't been to any strange websites lately and I have Norton, AVG and something else. This SAID it was Firefox, but it sounds like updater.exe is somehow a virus. Does Firefox ever update without asking and then reboot your computer without asking?

This happened

Updater.exe Firefox update program, so it is legitimate. It should not be necessary to reboot the computer after an update. Updating is only necessary if files are in use and the updater should close Firefox and wait until that is done before starting the update. You may have security software that is using or blocking files if that wasn't possible.

What I'd like to know is--why is firefox running updater.exe when I took the time to uncheck all of the boxes for updates? I prefer to decide when or if an update is necessary, and it's irritating to have Vista constantly alert me to firefox trying to sneak in an update. Mozilla busted by Vista...what's the world coming to?
