why is my NYT Breaking news website so slow to open every article using Firefox?

No, a private tab within "New Private Window" from menu. See Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history

I Asked the same thing of the Times and never got an answer.

Does it work better if you sign in using a new Private Window to skip loading any previous site data?

if you mean open a new tab, the answer is no?

So that means only stale data needs to be removed for the site.

See Clear cookies and site data in Firefox — the first chapter "Clear cookies for the current website" is the best choice for you, when you're on the NYT site — this will clean up outdated session data and give you the same fresh start.
