How on earth do I enable JavaScript
I have tried for hours now but cannot enable Javascript = which is apparently required for a range of activites

In the URL/address bar type [ about:config ]
Search for 'javascript.enabled' it would be set to true etc. to work
The troubleshooter data was not attached to the question so I can't verify any addons disabling scripts for you, but the fastest way would be either disabling addons or restarting into Troubleshoot Mode in Help menu to see if you still see these messages.
In general: JavaScript is enabled by default in Firefox. However, some websites may display a message saying that JavaScript is required or ask you to make sure that JavaScript is enabled, which can make it seem like JavaScript may not be working in your browser.
