Can I restore/find history of more than a year ago?
I thought I used to be able to access browser history from much longer ago, either way I can no longer see any history longer ago than 29/10/2025 is there anyway for me to restore, download or access older history, or has it been permanently deleted? I do still have a back-up of 28/12/2025 but I don't know if or where that contains history. I'm looking for data between 2019-06-01 and 2024-08-21. Weird thing is I remember accessing search history that old before... though I'm not sure how if if it doesn't store it for that long. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you verify that you haven't switched to a new profile?
Bookmarks and history are stored in places.sqlite, so best would be to use a new profile and place places.sqlite in that profile to inspect the history. You can also try this Nirsoft tool.
I don't think I switched profiles because I only have 1, but I will try the stuff you suggested below when I have time. The folder I have I simply titled "old firefox data" so that's probably some sort of back-up or export. I'll check if that file is in there though and if I can't find it and have tried the Nirsoft tool I can sent a screenshot of the folder structure. There were a few "restore" options with different dates in the history settings as well but I didn't want to click them in case it replaced my current history. But if that also works on seperate or maybe a duplicate profiles than maybe I can test that on there as well.

Update: the places.sqlite thing didn't seem to work at least, I created a duplicate profile, replaced it with the old places.sqlite file and it seemed to be basically identical history. However the Nirsoft browsing history view tool did a lot better and I was able to go back to 2022 which is pretty good but it seems to be very incomplete, it doesn't actually have all of the dates and history. So any other ideas would be welcome.
