Continually having to finish account setup

Why am I being alerted when I sign in to Firefox to finish setting up my account? I think that I have had an account and already sync my devices for the last decade, but less than a century. When I follow the sync instructions i get put on a loop of needed to "pair from within the Firefox app," on my phone - which I was using when instructed to "open Firefox" very confusing as to what I am doing wrong.

On what device are you trying to set up Sync? If it's a mobile device, see one of the following articles depending on your OS: Android | iOS.
