I'd like to have no news, people stories, nothing on my screen when I open my browser. Is that possible? I'm ready for the world to slow down and get more connected to nature. Thank you.

Guess you could go to Tools -> Settings -> Home section and set the Homepage to just Blank Page in the drop-down. That should cause it to open up to an empty tab.
