Hi Can you please help i have tried everything to get rid of this message i have uninstalled and reinstalled i have constantly refreshed and nothing helps,I get the message The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of firefoxs files is in use by another application also for quick access place your bookmarks here on the bookmark toolbar. I am not very technical but it is driving me mad please fix this for me Thanks

At the top of the screen i get a message :The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of firefox's files is in use by another application.

So when i look at my bookmarks and history it is completely empty.

I followed some instructions earlier and it has gone for now but if it happens again i will try and add a screenshot

Close Firefox completely, then open the Run box with Windows + R and type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and press Enter. Open the folder that ends with “.default” or “.default-release.” Find and delete the files named places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal. After that, start Firefox again. It will create new files automatically and your bookmarks and history should start working normally. If bookmarks are missing, Firefox will restore them from the “bookmarkbackups” folder in the same location.
