How can I import my (old installation) bookmarks toolbar to my (new installation)

I copied my home page from my old installation to another (new computer) - yadda.htm

I found out that the bookmarks toolbar is Installation Specific (boo) and that the export/import process on Firefox for the toolbar (according to Google) is hidden, convoluted. and a complete enigma (to me - can't be easy for anybody, really)

Could you please tell me how I can add to my new bookmarks toolbar from my old browser/installation without having to recreate them from scratch at my new installation?

Thank you.

Hello mjegi!

Firefox stores all bookmarks, toolbar layout, and settings** in the **profile folder**. If you can copy this folder, you’ll retain everything, including the bookmarks toolbar.

1. Locate the Old Profile Folder

On Windows 7, the profile folder is typically located at:
  C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

  - Replace <YourUsername> with your windows username
  - Inside this folder, you ll see multiple subfolders. These are your Firefox profiles.
  - Identify the profile that contains your bookmarks toolbar (you can check by opening Firefox and looking at the

about:profiles page).

2. Copy the Profile Folder

  - Right-click the profile folder and select "Copy".
  - Paste it into the same directory on your **new computer**.

3. Replace the default Profile (optional)

  - If you want to use this profile as the default, rename the existing default profile (e.g. xyz45x.default) to something

like xyz45x.default.bak to avoid conflicts.

4. Launch Firefox

  - Firefox will use the copied profile, and your bookmarks toolbar (and all other data) will be preserved.
